Job Description

The Instrument Manufacturing Tech performs evaluation, refurbishment, assembly, alignment, and advanced acceptance testing of automated electro-mechanical biological test systems. Responsibilities include maintaining stock levels, performing production functions safely in a regulated environment, and accurately and timely completing sub-assembly and final assembly acceptance test operations. The role involves electro-mechanical assembly of a complicated nature, ensuring proper documentation completion following GMP guidelines, and assisting in training other technicians. The ability to conduct advanced test procedures is essential. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Occasional environmental odors may be present, and lab coats are required.
Must have:
  • Associate's degree in Electronics or 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical functions
  • Knowledge of advanced laws of electricity
  • Knowledge of microprocessor and analog systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and assembly procedures
  • Proficiency in personal computers
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to conduct advanced test procedures

  • Progressively responsible experience as an Electronic Technician
  • Progressively responsible experience as an Instrument Manufacturing Technician

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

The normal working hours for this role are anticipated to be Monday - Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm. Perform evaluation, refurbishment, assembly, alignment and acceptance testing of automated electro-mechanical biological test systems on an advanced level while maintaining stock levels.  Perform production functions safely within regulated environment.

  • Perform sub-assembly and final assembly acceptance test operations accurately and timely.
  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly operations of a complicated nature.
  • Ensures proper completion of supporting documentation, following GMP guidelines.
  • Assist in training of Senior Assembler and other Technicians.
  • Perform any other job-related task as assigned by management procedures.
  • Ability to conduct advanced test procedures.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics discipline plus two (2) years progressively responsible experience as an Electronic Technician, Instrument Manufacturing Technician, or relevant experience.  
    • High School Diploma/GED with 3 years experience as an Electronic Technician, Instrument Manufacturing Technician, or relevant experience also accepted
  • Must possess knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical functions, advanced laws of electricity, microprocessor and analog systems.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and assembly procedures, and perform advanced math is required.
  • Requires proficiency in the use of personal computers, excellent troubleshooting skills and analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and possess strong verbal and written skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to conduct advanced test procedures.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Repetitive hand and arm motions.
    • Ability to climb steps. 
    • Lifting (up to 50Lbs) and moving containers of parts and various materials. 
    • Must be able to push a wheeled cart that can weigh up to 400 lbs fully loaded. 
    • Excellent personal hygiene required. 
    • Appropriate gowning requirements necessary for the production areas.
    • Lab coats are required. 
    • Occasional environmental odors may be prevalent.
