The SW HIL (hardware in the loop) team is looking for a motivated Platform Engineer to enhance the uptime, reliability, and feature set of testing environments for autonomous vehicles. This role involves ensuring the upkeep, design, and maintenance of engineering services, collaborating with teams to maintain high uptime of robot testing platforms, and measuring/improving their stability, accuracy, and usability. You will be involved in all phases of service rollout, including design, deployment, operations, support, automation, and continuous improvement, working with systems that handle large data volumes and compute-intensive tasks on CPUs and GPUs.
Must have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or related field
- 5+ years supporting in-production services
- On-call rotations and SRE responsibilities
- Proficient in Python or Golang
- Experience building resilient infrastructure
- Experience writing code for system automation and CI/CD
- Experience building observability stack
- Linux system administration experience
Good to have:
- Experience building software services and APIs
- Experience managing full-stack applications
- Experience with CI toolchains (Bamboo, Bazel)
- Experience with test frameworks (Pytest)
- Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Salt)

Job Details
The SW HIL (hardware in the loop) team ensures that the testing environment for system and subsystem improves in uptime, reliability, and feature set. To aid the adoption of our testing framework for use by other teams, the SW HIL team collaborates in test development and maintains key tests that exercise the functionality of the testing framework.
We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, self-starting Platform Engineer to join our Systems Reliability and Stability team. This position will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep, design, and maintenance of various engineering services. You will oversee and collaborate with other teams to ensure the high uptime of our robot testing platforms while measuring and improving their stability, accuracy, and usability.
In this role, you will:
- Measure and maintain the uptime of various services critical to the development of autonomous vehicles, such as testing and validation of on-vehicle software for hardware platforms.
- Be involved with all phases of rolling out various services, from design, deployment, operations, support, automation, and continuous improvement
- Work with systems handling large volumes of data and data processing pipelines while performing compute-intensive tasks on CPUs and GPUs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or related field with 5+ years supporting in-production services, on-call rotations, and SRE responsibilities
- Proficient in Python or Golang programming
- Experience building and managing resilient infrastructure services and writing code for system-level automation and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building observability stack, instrumentation, open-telemetry, and Grafana dashboards
- Linux system administration experience, troubleshooting kernel issues, and device driver development
Bonus Qualifications
- Built software services, wrote APIs for backend services, owned and managed full-stack applications
- Experience with CI toolchains such as Bamboo, Bazel, and test frameworks such as Pytest
- Experience writing and managing infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform Ansible Salt
$135,000 - $175,000 a year
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: pay, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The pay range for this position is [range minimum] to [range maximum]. A sign-on bonus may be part of a compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
