Product Owner

Activate is a tech company known for creating Canada’s first full-scale interactive gaming facility.  We are experiencing significant expansion and are looking to expand our IT team with the addition of a Product Owner.  The Product Owner will coordinate the activities of software developers who design and maintain the core software (both front-end and back-end) behind an interactive human-scale gaming facility.  This will involve prioritizing all projects with software developers, game designers, graphic designers, and other colleagues.

The Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Lead the planning of product releases and set expectations for delivery of new features and functionality
• Manage, plan, and coordinate activities of the development team to ensure the sprint progresses on schedule
• Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for all Activate software products
• Define product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities
• Confer with the development team to provide direction and to resolve problems
• Keep the Director, Software informed on delivery status and keep a healthy roadmap for the development team
• Mitigate roadblocks impacting completion of release/sprint goals
• Provide feedback on works-in-progress and accept or reject final products
• Act as the voice of our players, understanding customer feedback and needs

The Qualifications: 

• Trades certificate or 2-year diploma or unrelated bachelor’s degree 
• 3-5 years in a related field   
• Experience with Agile methodology and tools, including JIRA 
• Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and leadership skills 
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills  
• Excellent organizational and time management skills  
• Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies
