About the Role
You’ll be a key member of a dynamic team of developers, designers, artists, builders and thought leaders who create apps that delight both children and parents around the world. As a Technical Artist you will be responsible for seamlessly integrating programming, art, game design and sound to produce engaging, inviting and playful experiences inside our games. Your deep understanding of a project’s artistic vision, cross-functional requirements, technical constraints, and gameplay mechanics will enable you to creatively push the boundaries of interactivity, performance and visual quality in our games.
The Quest:
• Contributing to the success and delivery of a high-impact 2D mobile game as an intermediate or senior technical artist.
• Preparation, import and layout of art assets in Unity, aligning with the project’s artistic and technical vision.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams of developers, artists, and game designers.
• Rapid-prototyping of gameplay features and systems with developers, play designers and other technical artists.
• Elevating and polishing all aspects of the gameplay experience, from visuals to interactions, to deliver the highest quality experience to kids.
The Skills:
• Strong proficiency editing, organizing and exporting art assets in Adobe Illustrator.
• Extensive experience importing, integrating, and optimizing assets within Unity projects.
• Hands-on experience rigging and animating inside Unity, focusing on motion, interactivity and gameplay.
• Expertise in version control systems such as Git.
• Strong ability to translate complex technical details into visual interactions and gameplay.
• Strong ability to analyze a game interaction and articulate why it "feels" good or bad.
• A degree in game design, game programming, or a portfolio of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist or related position.
Nice to have:
• Proficiency in Unity/C# and game programming is considered a strong asset.
• Proficiency in Adobe Animate is an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Game Design, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a UI designer, or technical artist in the gaming industry or related field.
• Portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design and implementation skills, showcasing projects worked on from concept to completion.
• Understanding of user-centered design principles and usability testing methodologies.
