This role involves working with customers to provide recommendations for improving product development through the use of Ansys software and best practices. The engineer will act as a hands-on application expert, offering technical sales support, delivering professional services, ensuring customer productivity through training, and translating customer requirements into new product features. Responsibilities include leading technical activities for sales opportunities, understanding customer needs, implementing Ansys solutions, contributing to product development, and supporting marketing efforts. The position also involves leading professional service deliveries and conducting training classes.
Must have:
  • BS/MS/PhD in relevant engineering field
  • Minimum 3 years of professional engineering software experience
  • Demonstrated use of Ansys software or similar CAE/CAD/EDA/PLM tools
  • Subject matter expert in a relevant Ansys discipline
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of RF circuit packaging and simulation
  • Fundamental knowledge of high frequency electromagnetics
Good to have:
  • BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3 years of experience
  • 2 years of application engineering/customer support experience
  • Ability to interact with senior management
  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Compatibility and Interference
  • Experience with multi-physics implications

Summary / Role Purpose  

As an Ansys Senior Application Engineer, you will work with a variety of customers in your application area of High Frequency Electromagnetics and give recommendations for improving your customers' product development. You will find solutions to their application engineering challenges, utilizing Ansys software and best practices in their design processes. 

As a hands-on application expert for Ansys solutions in your application area of High Frequency Electromagnetics you will provide technical sales support, deliver professional services, ensure customer productivity through training and methodology support, and help translate customer requirements into new product features.  You will work in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to end-to-end simulation solutions, expand your application domain and industry knowledge, and support the growth of the Ansys business. 

 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

• Leads the coordination and execution of all technical activities throughout the lifecycle of a sales opportunity, e.g. technical discovery, negotiation of technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations. Works independently, results-oriented, across teams and organizations. 

• As a credible hands-on expert in the customer's application, you will work with customers to better understand their product development requirements and what they need to improve their performance metrics. You will address application-specific design and simulation requirements by utilizing the relevant Ansys product technologies and platforms that best meet the customer's needs. You will internalize the Ansys value proposition and convince the customer of the compelling reasons to use Ansys tools. 

• Support the development of differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and our products; implement our Ansys solutions into your customers' design workflows. Expand your expertise and become a recognized expert in your field of application. 

• Collaborate with the Ansys Product Development to translate customer requirements into new product features; participate in the testing of new Ansys product releases, develop application best practices 

• Support the Ansys Field and Digital Marketing team by developing promotional materials and supporting events, and author conference presentations. 

• Contribute to and lead professional service deliveries and conduct training classes. 

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace/Electrical Engineering or related field 

  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0 

  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages 

  • Subject matter expert in one or more relevant disciplines within Ansys’ business and is/will be sought out for advice by other Ansys engineers 

  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency 

  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed 

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of time 

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and previous usage of Ansys HFSS, Ansys SIwave, Ansys Q3D Extractor or other simulation software involving real world, industry level applications 

  • Knowledge of RF circuit packaging, printed circuit boards and connector design processes and simulations 

  • Fundamental knowledge of high frequency electromagnetics, microwave and antenna concepts including S-parameters, wave propagation, antenna radiation patterns, scattering analysis, and component coupling/interference analysis. 

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3 

  • 2 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles using engineering software  

  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives 

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of time 

  • Knowledgeable of Electromagnetic Compatibility and Interference. 

  • Experience considering multi-physics implications on electronic devices such as thermal, stress, and general electronics reliability. 

  • Knowledge of high-powered electromagnetic applications
