Axon is seeking a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives. This role acts as an operational bridge between People Operations, IT, and other business functions to ensure alignment and drive successful delivery of scalable systems and process improvements. The TPM will bring structure to complexity, enabling strategic workforce and technology initiatives to land on time and with measurable value. The role requires an open mindset towards emerging technologies, including AI, and expects the TPM to lead from the front in exploring AI-driven tools to enhance problem-solving, efficiency, and decision-making.
Must have:
  • Own end-to-end project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to scope projects
  • Facilitate Agile or modified agile environments
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project updates
  • Identify and resolve blockers
  • Drive continuous improvement of project management practices
  • Ensure delivered solutions meet business requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3-7 years of experience managing technical projects
  • Strong understanding of DBA, cloud architecture, APIs, DevOps
  • Proficient in Jira, Confluence, or similar tools
  • Strong grasp of Agile, Scrum, or hybrid methodologies
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management capabilities
Good to have:
  • Experience with HRIS: Workday
  • Executive presentation skills & presence

About the Role

Axon’s People Operations and PMO team is seeking a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of high-impact, cross-functional initiatives. In this role, you’ll serve as the operational bridge between People Ops, IT, and other business functions both internally and externally to our department, ensuring alignment, reducing friction, and driving successful delivery of scalable systems and process improvements. You will bring structure to complexity, enabling strategic workforce and technology initiatives to land on time and with measurable value. Axon’s employees demonstrates an open mindset toward emerging technologies, including AI, and actively explores opportunities to enhance problem-solving, efficiency, and decision-making through AI-driven tools and approaches, we expect the humans in this role to lead from the front and exemplify this way of thinking and working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership
    Own end-to-end project lifecycle: initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close technical projects across teams and geographies.
  • Technical Planning
    Collaborate with engineers and architects to scope projects, define milestones, estimate timelines, and allocate resources.
  • Agile Execution
    Facilitate “flexible” Agile or modified agile environments (e.g., sprint planning, standups, retrospectives), manage backlogs, and ensure sprint commitments align with broader project goals.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    Serve as the primary point of contact for project updates, timelines, risks, and mitigation strategies. Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Risk & Dependency Management
    Identify and resolve blockers, manage cross-team dependencies, and escalate issues proactively before they impact delivery.
  • Process Optimization
    Drive continuous improvement of project management practices, tooling, and team workflows.
  • Quality & Delivery Assurance
    Ensure delivered solutions meet business requirements and technical standards. Coordinate UAT and production rollout when needed.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
    • 3–7 years of experience managing technical projects in software, infrastructure, or systems development.
  • Technical Fluency
    • Strong understanding of DBA, cloud architecture, APIs, DevOps, and system integrations.
    • Able to communicate effectively with engineers and contribute to technical discussions.
    • Ideal experience with HRIS: Workday.
  • Tools & Methodologies
    • Proficient in Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.
    • Strong grasp of Agile, Scrum, or hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Soft Skills
    • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively and build influence across all organizational levels.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines.
    • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management capabilities.
    • Executive presentation skills & presence.
