As an Analytics Engineer at Trailmix, you will collaborate with product, marketing, and finance teams to translate business needs into data solutions. Responsibilities include designing and developing data ingestion pipelines, creating high-performance data models, building ETL processes, developing dashboards in Tableau, and ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. You will leverage your technical expertise to drive data-informed decisions, impacting player experience, marketing strategies, and overall game portfolio strategy. The role requires proficiency in SQL, DBT or similar tools, and at least one programming language (Python, etc.).
Must have:
  • Advanced SQL skills

  • Consumer-facing app/game experience

The Opportunity

‍We’re looking for an Analytics Engineer to join us on our journey of extraordinary growth. At Trailmix we’re always looking for new insights that result in tangible impacts: impact on our players, our marketing efforts and on our game & portfolio level strategy.

As our Analytics Engineer you'll be joining a talented Data team as well as a wider product and development team who have a real passion for data informed decisions. By utilizing your technical expertise you’ll help design and deliver robust and scalable data models that drive efficiencies and empower more easily interpretable insights that have real impact on product decisions.

The Day to Day

  • Work efficiently with product, marketing, and finance teams to translate business needs into various data solutions (data modeling, dashboards etc);
  • Design and develop new data ingestion pipelines as new requirements emerge;
  • Design and implement high-performance, scalable and cost-optimized data models that enable data analysts and data scientists to deliver impactful analyses efficiently;
  • Independently design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production, mentoring others around efficient queries;
  • Develop and configure dashboards and reports in BI tool (Tableau) that enable stakeholders to self-serve;
  • Build data expertise and leverage data controls to ensure privacy, security, compliance, data quality, and operations for allocated areas of ownership.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience;
  • 3+ years of work experience in data/analytics engineering;
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Experience with DBT or another transformation tool
  • Intermediate level on one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, C#, Scala, etc.)
  • Past experience with data modeling and ETL;
  • Familiarity with developing/building within a BI tool (Looker, Mode, Tableau etc);
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;

Nice to have

  • Consumer facing app or game industry experience preferred;
  • Past experience with developing dashboards with Tableau;
  • Cloud-native Data Warehouse, BigQuery preferred;
