Highspot is seeking a part-time Associate Software Engineer intern to contribute to the development of AI-driven capabilities within their products. The intern will collaborate with various teams to build customer-facing AI features, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to documentation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of AI/ML concepts and programming skills. They will work in the Seattle, WA office at least two days a week. The role involves designing, developing, and shipping features, writing automated tests, and participating in code reviews. They should be values-driven, curious, resourceful, and passionate about creating innovative technology.
Must have:
  • Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts and algorithms
  • Proficiency in programming languages like TypeScript, Python, or Ruby
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in UNIX-based systems
Good to have:
  • Experience or interest in large language models (LLMs)
  • Experience in prompt engineering or tools such as LangChain

About the Role

We’re looking for a part-time Associate Software Engineer intern to help build AI-driven capabilities across our products.
Our ideal candidate is currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. / M.Sc. in Computer Science or a similar field, with strong software engineering fundamentals and exposure to machine learning or AI. You'll collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers from diverse teams to build customer-facing AI features, contributing directly to solving complex problems and enhancing user experiences. You should be values-driven, curious, resourceful, and passionate about creating innovative technology.

What You'll Do

    • Work collaboratively with diverse, experienced development teams at our Seattle, WA office (minimum Monday and Wednesday in-office required).
    • Partner cross-functionally with Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to design, develop, and ship features — including AI-driven features — that customers love.
    • Build clean, reusable, and maintainable code, ensuring high-quality solutions that integrate with our enterprise observability tools.
    • Write automated tests and collaborate with QA to maintain high software quality.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to enhance customer experience.
    • Contribute to technical documentation, both internal and external.
    • Actively participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, stand-ups, design sessions, retrospectives, and project planning.
    • Develop and integrate AI models or leverage existing AI/ML services to power innovative product features.

Your Background

    • Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts and algorithms, with practical application experience.
    • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, or Ruby.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset and desire to learn.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience or keen interest in large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, or tools such as LangChain is a plus.
    • Comfortable working in UNIX-based systems.
