As a member of the MSNBC Digital copy desk, the copy editor is the last line of defense to ensure that our articles, columns, blogs and live blogs are of the highest quality possible. Whether it’s a long feature or a short breaking news blog, we will look to the copy editor to make sure our coverage is free of errors and typos and has context and clarity. The copy editor plays an essential part in producing compelling coverage that helps to expand our growing readership.
You will have excellent news judgment, and an understanding of the MSNBC brand, standards, its shows and its on-air hosts.
This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
Responsibilities:
The position requires enthusiasm, patience and positive communication skills. A successful candidate must be able to quickly edit articles in fast-breaking situations, and understand the difference in style and tone between an opinion column, a news or enterprise feature and a live blog. Editors need to be able to work collaboratively with a staff of writers and editors, ranging from industry veterans to early career employees.
