Job Description

The Senior Audio Designer will be responsible for crafting and enhancing the audio experience across the whole game, including gameplay, cinematics and music. They will take ownership of assessing needs, creating or obtaining necessary audio assets, as well as managing third party recording studio relationships and recording sessions. Responsibilities include designing, creating, and implementing audio features, collaborating with audio programmers and game designers, mixing and mastering audio, and ensuring audio quality. The candidate will also need to document audio features, collaborate with team members, and manage external relationships. They will also be involved in script assistance, suggestions that will support recording and manage 3rd party relationships with recording studios and talent.
Must have:
  • Expertise in interactive and linear sound effects design.
  • Fluency in game audio implementation.
  • At least 5 years experience as an audio designer.
  • Knowledge of authoring audio formats.
  • Experience with game audio scripting systems.
Good to have:
  • Experience using Wwise (experience in FMOD a plus).
  • Experience implementing Wwise content into Unreal Engine.
  • Experience with sound designer facing tools.
  • Shipped at least one game, where you were heavily involved in audio design.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a talented Senior Audio Designer who has a passion for creating rich and rewarding audio experiences for our players. You will be responsible for crafting and enhancing the audio experience across the whole of the game, including gameplay, cinematics and music.

This role provides an exciting opportunity with massive scope to have a real impact on the audio design, technical features and implementation of audio throughout the game. The Senior Audio Designer will take ownership of assessing needs, creating or obtaining necessary audio assets, as well as being responsible for any additional work such as managing third party recording studio relationships and the recording sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of various audio features from design, creation and asset implementation.
  • Proficiency in authoring audio formats.
  • Collaborating with audio programmers to develop systems based on the games vision and gameplay needs.
  • Audio tools and commentary system collaboration.
  • Audio mixing and mastering. Ensuring that audio is clear, consistent and balanced.
  • Creating and capturing new audio.
  • Working with the game designers and game director to ensure audio meets and exceeds the design requirements.
  • Evangalise features you are working on and the overall game vision to others within the organisation.
  • Write clear and concise audio documentation, ensuring that it is always kept up to date.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure work is delivered with a consistent quality and on time.
  • Assess and communicate issues and risk within reasonable timescales.
  • Have a keen ear for audio quality, identifying areas that could be improved, ensuring the game is meeting the highest of standards.
  • Providing script assistance and suggestions that will support recording.
  • Manage 3rd party relationships with recording studios and talent.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Expert in interactive and linear sound effects design.
  • Demonstratable fluency in game audio implementation.
  • At least 5 years as an audio designer in the games industry.
  • Knowledge and proven track record of authoring audio formats.
  • Experience of game audio scripting systems.
  • Demonstratable experience and knowledge of using Wwise (experience in FMOD a plus).
  • Demonstratable experience with implementing Wwise content into Unreal Engine, using sound designer facing tools.
  • Shipped at least one game, where you were heavily involved in audio design. Preferably console or PC.
  • Clear, concise and well written audio documentation.
  • Have clear and demonstratable knowledge of various current generation functionality and capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Based in the UK.
