CAE is seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to join their Defence & Security team in the UK. The role involves driving business growth and sales within the UK market. Responsibilities include identifying and leading business development, leveraging the existing network to build relationships, understanding and developing customer requirements, and proposing new business capabilities. The manager will also lead B2B and B2G opportunities, achieve financial goals, plan marketing events, and represent CAE at trade events. Internal stakeholder management, reporting, and compliance are also key aspects of this role. A strong background in business development/sales within the Defence sector is required, along with experience in the Defence ecosystem, customer relationships, and securing large aerospace/defence program wins.
Must have:
  • Strong BD/Sales experience in the Defence sector.
  • Proven track record in developing the Defence ecosystem.
  • Experience in customer relationships and influencing decision-making.
  • Understanding of new business capture processes and strategies.
  • Ability to obtain or transfer Security Clearance
Good to have:
  • Experience of the military fixed wing domain
  • Strong network of industry contacts and enthusiasm for frequent customer engagement.

CAE is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our Defence & Security team and drive the growth of our business in the UK. If you're passionate about business development and sales, and have experience of the defence sector, this is the perfect opportunity for you!. In this role you will be part of a small team of Business Development Managers focused on the UK market. Our head office in the UK is Burgess Hill, so anyone applying needs to be happy to be in the Burgess Hill location on a very frequent basis.

Business Development

  • As a key member of our BD team, you'll identify and lead the business development and sales of CAE products and services in the UK, aligning with CAE’s corporate strategy.

  • Leverage your extensive network to build strong business relationships within the forces and the broader Defence ecosystems, including DE&S, OEMs as partners/customers, and suppliers.

  • Understand and develop customer requirements to match our business capabilities.

  • Propose and develop business capabilities to meet future customer and market needs, identifying new entry points for exploitation.

Sales

  • Lead all assigned B2B and B2G opportunities from prospecting to contract award, ensuring compliance with corporate governance and the lead-to-award process. Own new business opportunities and take responsibility for closing orders.

  • Achieve business growth and financial goals, expand the long-term opportunity pipeline, and develop lasting partnerships.

  • Plan and coordinate trade fairs and other marketing events.

  • Represent CAE at key trade events and exhibitions.

Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure your S&BD activities are aligned with the rest of the business, including Capture, Bid, Program, Customer Services, Portfolio, Legal, and Finance.

  • Communicate and influence leadership on matters of strategic business importance, frequently briefing senior leadership.

Reporting

  • Maintain accurate CRM data to ensure correct pipeline and revenue forecasting.

  • Deliver requested reports to various internal stakeholders, including Executive Leadership and Direct Managers.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance rules are respected.

Experience & Skills

  • Strong BD/Sales experience from within the Defence sector

  • Proven track record in developing the Defence ecosystem and customer relationships, influencing decision-making, and securing large aerospace/defence program wins.

  • Experience of the military fixed wing domain particularly welcome, but not a pre requisite.

  • Strong network of industry contacts and enthusiasm for frequent customer engagement and relationship development.

  • Experience and understanding of new business capture processes, including the development and execution of capture strategies, requirements shaping, price-to-win development, competitive assessment, and understanding of key discriminators and requirements necessary to win competitive opportunities.

  • High level of autonomy and internal collaboration.

  • Candidates must be able to obtain or transfer Security Clearance which the Company sponsors. (applicants must have lived continuously in the UK for the past 5 years in order to obtain security clearance) or currently hold NATO SC level Security Clearance that can be transferred from overseas to the UK.
