Job Description

As the Director of Engineering for the Risk Quantification (RQ) team, you will lead the charge on continuing the cyber risk quantification product. You will drive the technical strategy, mentor the team, and work cross-functionally with other engineering teams, sales, and product leaders. Your role involves ensuring the success of the product through collaboration and communication within a remote-first environment. You will be responsible for delivering results consistently and sustainably, guiding technical strategy, building a top-tier engineering team, and influencing ThreatConnect's engineering culture and strategy. The job description also includes responsibilities such as rapidly calculating the impact of cyber attacks, prioritizing resource allocation based on financial metrics and ROI, and fostering the integration of technical and business aspects of an organization for informed, data-driven decisions.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of engineering leadership experience, with experience on complex products
  • 10+ years of experience in major programming languages with .NET experience
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and frameworks
  • Passion for leading, coaching, and building an inspired team
  • Strong decision maker who effectively balances ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality
  • Operates at multiple altitudes, from developing vision and strategy to driving execution
  • Have high “EQ”; be even-keeled, flexible, and able to quickly adapt to unexpected changes
  • Experience working with software governance and agile methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good to have:
  • Understanding of risk management principles, processes, and metrics
  • Have enough technical knowledge to enough to gain the respect of software engineers
  • Break down complex technical problems into smaller solutions

Job Description

ThreatConnect is seeking a Director of Engineering for our Risk Quantification (RQ) team. This critical role in the organization will be responsible for leading the charge on continuing our cyber risk quantification product that leverages big data analytics and high throughput processing. You will help drive and deliver on the technical strategy and roadmap and will be responsible for mentoring the team. You will work cross-functionally with your peers in the engineering organization as well as leaders in sales and product. Your impact is not bounded and you will be enabled to engage and collaborate with various teams and ensure your product’s success. We are a remote-first company, so you must bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with your engineering teams and cross-functional teams across the globe.

The Product
ThreatConnect Risk Quantifier (RQ) enables organizations to rapidly, and in a data-driven, defensible manner, calculate the impact of a cyber attack in financial terms. RQ also provides prioritizations for where the business and security teams should invest resources (people, process, and technology) based on financial metrics and ROI. Bringing together cyber loss and cyber attack data, RQ links the technical and business parts of an organization together to make informed, data-driven decisions that drive risk mitigations.

In This Role, You’ll Get To...

    • Lead engineering teams to deliver results consistently and sustainably while holding a high bar for execution and quality
    • Independently identify and realize strategies that deliver significant value to our customers and business
    • Guide technical strategy, ensuring that your teams are delivering long-term value aligned with RQ’s business priorities
    • Partner closely with your respective Design, Product, and Go-to-Market counterparts to build best-in-class products and bring them to market 
    • Build a best-in-class engineering team. Coach, mentor, and create an environment where your team can do their best work and deliver for the business. 
    • Play an integral role in influencing and shaping ThreatConnects’s engineering culture and strategy

Required Skills

    • 7+ years of engineering leadership experience, with deep experience working on complex products in a high-growth environment
    • 10+ years of experience in major programming languages with significant .NET experience and front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular)
    • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and frameworks (e.g., encryption, authentication, network security, etc.)
    • Passion for leading, coaching, and building an inspired team through setting vision, unlocking potential, and driving compassionate accountability
    • Strong decision maker who effectively balances ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality
    • Operates at multiple altitudes, from developing vision and strategy to driving execution
    • Have high “EQ”; be even-keeled, flexible, and able to quickly adapt to unexpected changes
    • Experience working with software governance and agile methodologies
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
