The Director of Product Delivery at Scientific Games is responsible for creating and managing implementation and delivery plans using Agile, Waterfall, and iterative approaches. This role ensures on-time, on-budget, high-quality deliveries with excellent customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include technical, financial, client, change, and risk management. The director will lead and mentor high-performing delivery teams, driving difficult conversations with stakeholders, and managing resources across various products. A deep understanding of the lottery industry, specifically Gem products, and SG's omnichannel ecosystem is crucial. Strong analytical skills, experience with RFPs, and proficiency in diverse technical environments are essential.

Position Summary

The Director of Product Delivery position is part of the lottery division’s software engineering team at Scientific Games.  The work at SG and this Lottery industry team assists to enable the funding of good causes like education, health care, senior citizens, roads, bridges, state parks and trails as well as the environment. Lotteries in the US fund quite a variety of good causes and have proven to perform well through recessions.  Even in 2020 and other challenging periods, SG has shown stability and often continued to experience growth in the lottery division.  Joining this team, you will be among peers in professional engineering that report up in small groups to a VP of Software Engineering and Architecture.  You will find these teams are made up of career-minded professionals, many with significant tenure that have chosen to stay at SG in the lottery industry. 

In this role, you will be responsible for creating and managing implementation and delivery plans using a blend of Agile, waterfall and iterative approaches to meet client goals while keeping SG’s commercial requirements, delivery capabilities and capacity in mind. You will be responsible for various products needed for different deliveries and a number of the related resources involved in those.  The role is accountable to ensure on time, on budget, quality deliveries with high customer satisfaction. You will be expected to gain buy-in and support from the broader organization as you establish strategies for effective planning, budgeting, and execution as it relates to SG’s domestic and international delivery strategies. You will be responsible for technical management, financial management, client management, change management, and risk management.  In order to ramp into the Director Product Delivery role you need to gain or enhance lottery knowledge with a focus on Gem products initially.  You will need to understand the full array of offerings in SG’s omnichannel ecosystem which will enable you to comfortably and confidently execute.

Strong communication skills are required to drive difficult conversations when needed to influence strategy, vision, transformational change and scope control with stakeholders.  They will routinely include SG and customer C-suite along with other high profile industry leaders.  A passion for people, management, coaching, and mentorship are key for this position.  You will be responsible for building and maintaining top caliber dynamic delivery teams. You are the go-to person for your teams when they have questions that include but are not limited to requirements, delivery plans, conflicts, customer (internal/external) issues and resolution. Your best practices will help to streamline the day-to-day work within your teams and other direct and indirect responsible teams.

Strong analytical skills are required and the ability to keep pace in a very dynamic industry through a period of material investment, change and growth.  The candidate must have experience and be proficient in responding to RFP’s, writing requirements, understanding complex architecture & designs, costing and solutioning across various technical and non-technical teams.  Strong preference for Lottery, transactional, back office and state government experience in that order of priority. 

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Deliver and implement product focused technology solutions in complex highly integrated ecosystems
  • Identify solutions to successfully meet the needs of Scientific Games Customers
  • Provide leadership for technical deliveries by driving execution and establish best practices and proper processes
  • Manage software resources and testing for implementation project execution
  • Work closely with the SG business to understand and plan resources for deliveries
  • Work closely with SG product teams to define, improve and evolve SG product roadmaps for current and future customers’ needs
  • Participate in the requirements gathering phase of development and implementation projects.
  • Participate in the release process and support of production lottery systems when issues arise as a product SME.
  • Define optimal approaches, solutions delivery, conversion (when needed), integration and testing.
  • The position can have up to travel 30% travel. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Required:

  • BS in Computer Science, Business Technology, related field or equivalent real-world experience
  • 10 years of experience in large enterprise environments
  • Advanced knowledge of complex technology, product and business solutions
  • Successful experience managing large scale enterprise projects with cross functional teams including software engineering, testing, BA’s, technical support, operations, systems and networking.
  • Broad understanding of technology-based products, ability to see the big picture, understand various components, integrations, dependencies and message those to the customer for happy path and production issues.
  • Proficient in developing project plans, assigning resources, budgeting and executing long duration deliveries with material changes.
  • Ability to drive documentation, requirements, software engineering, operations, support and testing resources to implement and support security intensive solutions in 24/7/365 environment.
  • Proven skills writing & maintaining product, delivery, testing and support documents
  • Experience with various systems, networks and technologies in on-prem, private cloud and mixed environments.
  • Experience providing solutions in highly integrated secured compliance intensive environments
  • Demonstrable real-world experience leading and driving execution while delivering results with high performing teams.

Desirable:

  • Real time transactional systems experience a plus
  • Lottery industry experience a big plus
  • Engineering and full SDLC knowledge/experience
  • Experience in public cloud (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with international deliveries, teams and resources
  • Product Management Experience

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:

  • BS in Computer Science, Business Technology, related field or equivalent real-world experience
  • 10 years of experience in large enterprise environments
