Job Title: Product Owner – Platform Applications

Location: Chennai, India
Squad Alignment: Product Innovation Squad – Chennai
Type: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Product Owner to join our Chennai-based Product Innovation Squad, serving as the execution lead and customer advocate within an autonomous, cross-functional team. You will work in close partnership with the US-based Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Principal Engineer to drive the execution of a strategic roadmap for a modern, cloud-native B2B SaaS platform.

This is a critical delivery role with a strong blend of technical fluency, user-centric product sense, and agile discipline. You’ll be responsible for refining and managing the product backlog, prioritizing feature work, aligning cross-functional teams, and ensuring that sprint outputs deliver measurable business value.

This is not a typical project or business analyst role. The Product Owner is empowered to own outcomes—not just tasks, bridging strategic intent and execution within a globally distributed product team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Strategy & Execution

  • Work in lock-step with the CPO to understand the product vision and translate strategic objectives into actionable, sprint-ready stories.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog to ensure alignment with roadmap goals, technical feasibility, and team capacity.
  • Make real-time scope and priority decisions based on business value, delivery risk, and product KPIs.
  • Drive delivery planning and readiness for feature rollouts and go-to-market activities.

Backlog Management & Agile Rituals

  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer and SET to define acceptance criteria and technical constraints.
  • Refine backlog items to ensure clarity and traceability; maintain definition of ready and done.
  • Participate actively in sprint ceremonies: planning, standups, grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure backlog is continuously evolving to reflect feedback, learning, and evolving market context.

Customer & Stakeholder Advocacy

  • Serve as the voice of the customer, grounding product decisions in research, internal feedback, and business outcomes.
  • Engage with cross-functional stakeholders (sales, customer success, support, engineering) to gather input and validate ideas.
  • Collaborate on user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to validate UX and usability.

Product Analytics & Iteration

  • Define product KPIs and validate features through analytics, experiments, and customer signals.
  • Monitor post-release outcomes and adjust priorities based on usage data and system impact.
  • Contribute to hypothesis-driven development and test-and-learn cycles for new features.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5–8 years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or product management.
  • Proven success managing backlogs and leading Agile squads to ship production-grade features.
  • Strong UI/UX sensibility and ability to collaborate with design or create wireframes/prototypes independently.
  • Experience with Agile product delivery tools: Jira, Confluence, Aha!, Figma, product analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel).
  • Ability to engage in technical discussions with engineers and understand system design trade-offs.
  • Experience with Agentic AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to enhance productivity and code quality is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially in distributed, cross-timezone environments.
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills with a data-first mindset.

Desired Attributes

  • Experience working in B2B SaaS, education technology, or LMS domains.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps environments.
  • Comfortable managing uncertainty and iterative delivery in fast-moving teams.
  • Ownership mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and team collaboration.

WORKING MODEL & CULTURE

  • Embedded within a 5–6 person agile squad that includes a Principal Engineer, Software Engineers, and a Software Engineer in Test (SET).
  • Functions as the execution counterpart to the CPO, ensuring roadmap alignment and delivery readiness.
  • Collaborates closely with QA, UX, DevOps, and support teams to ensure end-to-end ownership.
  • Operates within a Spotify-inspired agile structure, with squad autonomy, chapter alignment, and tribe-level coordination.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

As the Product Owner, you will own the delivery of high-impact features and ensure that the team builds the right product, in the right way, at the right time. Your work will directly shape the user experience, feature velocity, and product-market fit of our core platform.
