Job Description:

About You

We are looking for Staff Level Engineers passionate about code craftsmanship, continuous improvements, agile development and mentoring junior engineers in the team. We are building brand new data platform and products, scaling out existing platform features to support large scale data by leveraging big data tools and technologies. The platform has a lot of visibility in PayPal and there are lots of opportunities for growth. We are looking for you to bring a healthy mix of top-notch work ethics and fresh perspectives to our uniquely vibrant group.

What will you do here?

Design and development of data products and platform for PayPal. Collaborate with product team to

identify appropriate business requirements and help design large scale solution architecture. Own key analytics components, services and offerings all the way from ideation to production deployment. Engage in experimentation, automation, simulation and contribute to performance tuning, improvements and load testing.

What we absolutely need?

• 8+ years of Software Engineering experience

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Math or related field

• Hands on experience working with big data tools/libraries and map reduce framework

• Proficient in computer science fundamentals including algorithm analysis and design

• Strong desire to learn, push the envelope and share knowledge with others

• Innate love for Distributed Systems (designing, developing, debugging, monitoring)

• “You build it, you own it!” mindset

• Previous experience of mentoring juniors in the team

How can you knock our socks off?

• Hands on experience in implementing ML models for actionable insights

• Proven experience in tackling business problems around reporting and big data analytics

• Production grade experience with any or all of these: Spark, Hive, Airflow, SQL

• Strong sense of platform feature ownership – from ideation to deployment
