We’re hiring for an SEO Specialist as part of Merkle in Sofia

SEO Specialist

Role Summary:

The SEO Specialist is responsible for enhancing the visibility and organic performance of digital platforms across various markets. This role covers technical SEO, content optimisation, and authority-building activities and ensures websites are fully optimised for users and search engines. The ideal candidate will proactively identify search opportunities, translate audits into action, and track performance improvements. A future-focused mindset, including awareness of AI-driven changes in search behaviour, is key to success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and align localised SEO strategies with global marketing goals

  • Conduct technical and on-page SEO audits, delivering actionable recommendations

  • Monitor and report on organic performance using SEO tools and analytics platforms

  • Improve indexing health and site performance metrics across mobile and desktop

  • Collaborate with content, development, and analytics teams to implement SEO best practices

  • Provide regular insights on market trends, including emerging technologies and search behaviours

Key Performance Indicators for this role include:

  • Number of completed SEO strategies and action plans across regions

  • Crawl/index health improvements and Core Web Vitals score uplift

  • Volume and quality of shared insights or trends across teams

  • Contribution to organic traffic growth and search visibility

  • Timeliness and quality of quarterly SEO reporting

Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in SEO, including technical and content optimisation

  • Strong knowledge of Google Search Console, Lighthouse, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog

  • Understanding of structured data, Core Web Vitals, mobile-first indexing, and international SEO

  • Ability to translate data into actionable strategy and communicate findings effectively

  • Up-to-date with search engine algorithm changes and industry trends

  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
