Job Description

The Software Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing hardware abstraction middleware, APIs, embedded software, and forwarding plane software for switch and router functionality. The role involves documenting the design via Design Specifications and Reference Manuals. The ideal candidate should have a professional background in software development, preferably in C/C++, with experience in embedded software development within communication protocols and data plane application development. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and experience with build and test systems are required.
Must have:
  • Experience in C/C++ development.
  • Experience with embedded software development.
  • Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with build and test systems.
  • MSc in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience with modern C/C++ programming.
  • Experience with Python programming.
  • Experience with TDD, Unit Testing, and system level testing.
Good to have:
  • Experience with data plane protocols.
  • Experience with CMake.
  • Strong Linux skills.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Software Design Engineer to join our Research and Development team in Stockholm, Sweden. If you want to be a part of our growing company that is driven by innovation and is focused on building a future together with our employees, consider applying.

The key responsibilities of this role will include

  • Design, implementation and test of hardware abstraction middleware and APIs
  • Design, implementation and test of embedded software
  • Design, implementation and test of forwarding plane software for switch and router functionality
  • Documenting the design via Design Specifications and Reference Manuals

Knowledge, skills and experience required

General:

  • Professional background in software development, preferably from large scale C/C++ development. End to end experience with designing, coding, testing, and maintaining code.
  • Working experience from embedded software development within the field of communication protocols and data plane application development.
  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and complexity, and understanding of how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience with build and test systems, continuous integration (Jenkins, Buildbot, or similar), scripting (Python, Bash) and source control systems (preferably Git). Understanding of the value and usage of unit testing, test automation, and code generation.

Required:

  • MSc Computer Science or equivalent 
  • Demonstrable professional experience of SW development
  • Experience from modern C/C++ programming
  • Experience from Python programming
  • Experience of TDD, Unit Testing and system level testing

Desirable:

  • Experience from data plane protocols and data plane application development
  • Experience with CMake
  • Strong Linux skills
