Job Description

The Associate Manager Operations for Tesla's Body Shop in Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg will manage, inspire, and develop a team of supervisors, associates, technicians, and leads. Responsibilities include overseeing key production indicators (safety, quality, cost, delivery, morale), leading productivity improvement projects, developing PFMEA, managing training and hiring, supporting control plans, resolving issues, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating with manufacturing engineers. The ideal candidate possesses a BA/BS degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years in fast-paced manufacturing, team management experience, new product launch experience, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Fluency in English and German is required.

What to Expect
The Associate Manager will be responsible for managing, inspiring and developing a team made up of Supervisors, Associates, Technicians and Leads. The Associate Manager provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to their direct reports, and takes pride in their hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. What You’ll Do
  • Manage Supervisors, Leads and Production Associates and develop the team structures used in the Tesla Factory.

  • Manage the important production indicators of Safety, Quality, Costs, Delivery, morale and leading the productivity improvement projects.
  • Support the development of Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify critical risks in the production processes with the Manufacturing Process Engineers.
  • Develop and manage training programs and hiring plans for production associates.
  • Support of control plans to assure critical features are controlled through the production process.
  • Support issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking.
  • Ensure quality standards are being met throughout the entire production process and that there are no defects left at a station or team area.
What You’ll Bring
  • BA/BS or higher degree or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and thorough knowledge of production systems and processes.
  • Experience managing teams of people in a production environment.
  • Experience in new product development and launch activities.
  • Experience with a broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs).
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success.
  • Experience in hiring and developing new team members in a production environment.
  • Can work efficiently and productively, either autonomously or as a team.
  • Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Fluent with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Ability to work in day shift and 3 shifts including early, late and night shifts.
  • Fluent language skills of both English and German.
