Job Description

This is a full-time, in-office position at Rockstar Games in Oakville, ON. The role involves developing and enhancing graphics technologies, working with the programming team to integrate and improve these technologies, and occasionally mentoring junior team members. The job responsibilities include developing cutting-edge graphics and visual effect systems, working with other departments to create optimal solutions. The candidate should have experience with C/C++, shader programming, 3D graphics APIs, performance optimization, and debugging graphics pipelines. They will collaborate with artists, designers, and content creators to ensure they can effectively utilize the technology.
Must have:
  • 1+ years of graphics development experience
  • Experience with C/C++ programming
  • Experience with HLSL or other shader language
  • Experience with 3D graphics APIs
  • Experience optimizing performance and memory
  • Experience debugging graphics pipelines
  • Experience with multithreaded programming
  • Experience working with large code bases
Good to have:
  • Experience with shipped titles on consoles
  • Experience using real-time ray tracing APIs
  • Passionate about playing and making games

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s unique game development studio in Oakville, ON. 

WHAT WE DO

  • We develop cutting-edge graphics and visual effect systems, working together with other departments to create optimal, attractive solutions for our games.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop new and enhance existing graphics technologies (rendering, lighting, shadows, shaders, culling, scene management and others) to help achieve state-of-the-art visuals.
  • Work closely with the rest of the programming team to assist in integrating graphics technologies, identify extensions to that technology, and help create those improvements.
  • Occasional mentoring of more junior members of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Computer Science / related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of PC or console graphics development experience.

SKILLS

  • Experience with C/C++ programming
  • Experience with HLSL or other vendor specific shader programming language.
  • Experience with 3D graphics APIs (Direct3D 11+, OpenGL, Vulkan and/or vendor specific).
  • Experience optimizing both performance factors and memory footprints using hardware and software profilers (PIX, Razor CPU/GPU, Tuner, Vtune, etc.).
  • Experience debugging graphics pipelines using relevant platform tooling (Renderdoc, Pix, Razor GPU, etc.).
  • Experience with multithreaded programming.
  • Experience working with large code bases.
  • Ability to work with artists, designers and other content creators to make sure they can get the most out of the technology.

PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • At least one shipped title; preferably on the Xbox and/or Playstation consoles.
  • Experience using modern real time ray tracing APIs (DXR, NVX or vendor specific).
  • Passionate about playing and making games.
