About Steel City Interactive

SCI was born out of passion for video games and boxing, with the ambition to create an authentic and exciting boxing game that does justice to the sport we love. What started as a fun prototype has grown into ‘Undisputed’, the first major boxing video game in over a decade.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused HR Manager to lead and manage all aspects of our Human Resources function, with a strong emphasis on employee relations. This role is ideal for a professional with a deep understanding of HR best practices, proven experience in managing employee relations matters, and the ability to cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace culture. As HR Manager, you will oversee recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and employee engagement, ensuring both employees and management are supported in achieving organisational goals.


Responsibilities

  1. HR Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s objectives and culture, driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
    • Support leadership in workforce planning, identifying skills gaps, and planning talent needs to support organisational growth.
  2. Employee Relations:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, addressing issues proactively and maintaining open lines of communication across all levels.
    • Provide support and guidance to managers on handling performance issues, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution to ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees.
    • Lead investigations into grievances, complaints, and other employee concerns, ensuring a fair, confidential, and timely process that adheres to company policy and legal requirements.
    • Foster a positive working environment, promoting respectful and inclusive practices, and advising management on best approaches to employee relations.
  3. Recruitment and Onboarding:
    • Lead the recruitment process, from defining job requirements and advertising roles to screening candidates and coordinating interviews.
    • Oversee a structured onboarding process, ensuring new employees receive a positive introduction to the company’s culture, policies, and values.
  4. Employee Engagement and Wellbeing:
    • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives, using feedback to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
    • Promote employee wellbeing, including mental health initiatives and workplace support, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
    • Organise regular feedback channels, such as employee surveys or focus groups, to understand and address team concerns.
  5. Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll Support:
    • Collaborate with finance and leadership on compensation strategy, ensuring pay equity, competitive salaries, and a comprehensive benefits package.
    • Oversee payroll processes in conjunction with the finance team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll policies and regulations.
  6. Policy, Compliance, and Documentation:
    • Maintain current knowledge of employment law and HR best practices, ensuring HR policies comply with all legal requirements.
    • Regularly review, update, and communicate company policies to reflect current legislation and industry standards.
    • Manage employee records in accordance with GDPR and data protection regulations, ensuring confidentiality and secure handling of information.
  7. Health, Safety, and Work Environment:
    • Oversee health and safety compliance, ensuring a safe and supportive workplace.
    • Promote and organise initiatives that support a balanced and healthy work environment.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CIPD qualification is highly advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR management role, ideally with a focus on employee relations within a medium to large organisation.
    • Proven experience managing recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Key Skills:
    • Strong understanding of employment law, best HR practices, and employee relations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, rapport, and resolve conflicts effectively.
    • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
    • Proficient in HR systems and MS Office.
