Job Description

PUBG Madison is seeking a Lead Technical Artist to join its team. As a World Building focused Technical Artist, you will guide and craft a pipeline of tools to aid in the creation of our worlds. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring a team, creating efficient solutions, utilizing PCG, Houdini, and Unreal tools, collaborating with other teams, streamlining pipelines, and maintaining documentation. The role requires experience in leadership, AAA game development, world building, and programming languages.
Must have:
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • 8+ years of AAA game development
  • Strong world building experience
  • Strong Unreal PCG skills
  • Familiarity with a programming language
  • Experience with version control
  • Ability to adapt to new tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Strong Linear Math and Algebra Skills

The person we’re looking for:

PUBG Madison is looking for an experienced Lead Technical Artist to join our growing team. As a World Building focused Technical Artist, you will work along side your fellow tech-artists as you guide and craft a pipeline of tools to aid in the creation of our worlds. You will nurture your team of tools and pipeline focused tech-artists as you collaborate with our level artists, designers, and world builders, breaking down their workflows and finding creative solutions to their inefficiencies and bottlenecks. You will empower our team to create beautiful, compelling, and fun worlds for our players, and push the quality of our tools and performance of our levels. You will be a bridge between the visions of our team, against the challenge of scale, and being a hawk against brute force solutions as you help craft elegant and modular pipelines.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Inspire and guide your team by setting clear standards, providing constructive reviews, and nurturing individual growth
  • Create modular, efficient, and intuitive solutions that answer the needs of the content creation teams
  • Use PCG, Houdini, Houdini Engine, and/or Black Magic (C++) to improve the scope, scale, and quality of our creations
  • Work and deploy your tools in Unreal, and ensuring that they answer both the artistic needs of the artist, as well as the performance needs of the map
  • Work closely with our teams, seeking constant feedback while collaborating on tools to improve their workflows
  • Bring insights and solutions to streamline our pipelines
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Actively advance your skills and abilities by keeping aware of industry trends and techniques, evaluating competitive products, and learning new software packages

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a technical art team
  • 8+ years technical experience developing AAA titles
  • Strong world building and procedural pipeline experience
  • Strong Unreal PCG skills
  • Familiarity with one or more programming language (e.g. C#, C++, Python, Vex)
  • Experience with a version control system (e.g. Perforce, Git, SVN, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt to new tools and tech
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other disciplines and departments
  • Strong problem-solving skills
