Job Description

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. This role involves collaborating with expert professionals to understand customer requirements and advance engineering simulation user experience. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain next-generation simulation engines. Responsibilities include performing development activities, bug verification, release testing, and beta support, understanding marketing requirements, and working under general supervision.
Must have:
  • BS in Computer Science/related field with 2 years’ experience or MS.
  • Working experience with technical software development.
  • Good skills in object-oriented programming with C++.
  • Experience with electrical modeling and simulation.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Python.
  • Technical knowledge of power and signal integrity.
  • Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and collaborate with others.

Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and advance the state of the art in engineering simulation user experience. The successful candidate will have knowledge of technical/scientific computing concepts and will design, implement, and maintain next-generation simulation engines.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex development activities supporting SIwave, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and solvers based on FEM and Integral Equation techniques.
  • Understands and employs best practices
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other natural science disciplines with 2 years’ experience or MS
  • Working experience with technical software development proven by academic, research, or industry projects
  • Good understanding and skills in object-oriented programming with C++
  • Working experience with electrical modeling and simulation, specifically with numerical methods

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with Python
  • Technical knowledge and experience with power and signal integrity concepts and circuit theory.
  • Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
