Scopely's Playgami team in Mexico City seeks a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead and collaborate in developing self-serve insight products. Responsibilities include overseeing the data product lifecycle (designing tracking plans, developing data models, ELT pipelines, Looker explores/dashboards), ensuring data quality, utilizing technologies like BigQuery, dbt, and Looker, providing technical leadership, and mentoring team members. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in the modern data stack, exceptional SQL skills, and a strong understanding of data modeling principles. This role requires a passion for solving complex analytical puzzles and translating business needs into advanced analytics solutions within a fast-paced environment.
Must have:
- Lead development of self-serve insight products
- Oversee entire data product lifecycle
- BigQuery, dbt, Looker expertise
- Exceptional SQL skills (5+ years experience)
- Data modeling knowledge
- Technical leadership and mentorship
Good to have:
- Experience with Snowflake, Airflow
- Kimball methodology knowledge

Scopely is seeking a highly motivated Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Playgami team in México City on a hybrid basis!

What You’ll Do
- Lead and collaborate with engineers, product teams, and analysts to develop self-serve insight products that are responsive, precise, and scalable at petabyte levels
- Oversee the entire data product lifecycle, including designing new tracking plans, developing data models, ELT pipelines, and self-serve insight products like Looker explores and dashboards
- Act as a guardian of data quality, ensuring consistent metric reporting across a wide range of data products
- Utilize cutting-edge technology stack including BigQuery, dbt and Looker
- Provide technical leadership and empathize with game product teams and departments to enhance their daily operations and product success
- Bring expertise in a specific part of the data stack and lifecycle while contributing broadly across all aspects
- Mentor team members and drive the adoption of best practices within the team
What We’re Looking For
- A strong passion for solving complex analytical puzzles
- Proven ability to translate business needs into advanced analytics solutions
- Deep expertise with the modern data stack (BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Airflow, GitHub, command line-based workflows)
- Exceptional SQL skills coupled with at least 5 years of relevant experience in data analytics or engineering roles
- Solid understanding of data modeling principles (e.g., Kimball methodology, star schemas)
- A high valuation of business context and the drive to achieve technical excellence
- An inclination towards collaboration and pride in contributing to high-functioning teams
- Enjoyment in working within fast-paced, growth-oriented environments
- A sense of fun at work, with extracurricular interests like Ping Pong or Mario Kart seen as a bonus!
