This position offers hands-on system embedded Safe Linux software design and development for next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon products in Automotive ADAS and Infotainment. The engineer will be involved in embedded automotive software for Safe Linux-based solutions, working across the software stack including application boot loaders, kernel, and user spaces like Android and real-time Linux. The role involves optimizing and improving the performance of safe Linux systems, understanding core Linux design principles, and adapting to the open-source community. Design principles must incorporate safety and security from the outset to meet automotive requirements. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations to define and implement complete solutions, requiring theoretical and practical knowledge in C/C++ programming, real-time operating systems, and power/performance expertise on embedded systems. Familiarity with embedded system hardware and board design is also expected. Experience with multimedia, vehicle networks, or external module peripherals is a plus.

General Summary:

This position offers hands-on system embedded Safe Linux software design and development to bring the next generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon products in Automotive ADAS and Infotainment working with multiple technology teams, Tier1s, OEMs and industry partners. The engineer will be involved in the next generation of embedded automotive software for Safe Linux-based automotive solutions. In this role, there will be opportunities across the software stack including application boot loaders, kernel, user spaces such as Android and real-time Linux enabling full capabilities of Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware.  The job will involve in optimizing and improving the performance for safe linux system, understand the core of linux design principles and design to be adapt in open source community. Design with safety and security from start for meeting the challenges of Automotive requirements. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams across multiple locations to define and implement complete solutions.  Work assignments require theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of C/C++ programming and real-time operating systems, along with power and performance expertise on embedded systems.  The candidate should also be familiar with embedded system hardware and board design. Experience with multimedia, vehicle network or external module peripherals are welcome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance features in the Linux Kernel/Preempt RT kernel, particularly in areas device drivers, scheduling, and memory management (IOMMU).

  • Optimize power and performance management technologies (DVFS, Linux PM) for ARM-based systems.

  • Debug and resolve complex software issues using tools like JTAG online and offline debugging.

  • Contribute to open-source projects, including the Linux Kernel, Systemd, Yocto.

  • Develop and drive improvements in system software for ARMv8/v9 based platforms.

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-performance, scalable software solutions for automotive IVI/ADAS/Flex chipsets. 

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux kernel and device driver development on yocto environment. 

  • Strong knowledge on C, Boot flow, bootloaders and OS internals.

  • Solid knowledge of ARMv8 and ARMv9 architecture,

  • Solid understanding of computer system architecture (core, cache, memory models, bus architecture, etc.).

  • Experience in Board and SOC bring up,  Device drivers, peripheral buses (SPI, I2C, USB), Memory controllers.

  • Familiarity with tools like git debugging technologies like JTAG, GDB.

  • Prior contributions to open-source projects (e.g., Linux Kernel, Yocto).

  • Excellent skills to analyze, triage and debug complex system level issues with traces and ram dumps. 

  • Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.

Good to have:

  • 1+ Years professional work experience in embedded/automotive software and/or driver development on ARM SoCs on Linux/Android etc.

  • 1+ years experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Python, etc

  • 1+ Years experience with architectural capability analysis in addressing system design challenges such as multi-OS virtualization and multi-domain boot architecture.

  • 1+ Years experience with low level software/hardware interface design and debugging.

  • 1+ Years experience with industry standard software development tools: HSW/HE debuggers, code revision control systems (GIT, Perforce), IDEs and build tools.

  • ARMv8 architecture knowledge and 2 to 4 years experience with SW development for ARM systems

  • Prior experience with Qualcomm MSM software platforms is a big plus

  • Experience in Open source initiatives, Linux Foundation, AGL projects is a big plus

  • Experience in coordination with multiple technology teams, program and product teams, and test engineering.

  • Experience in bottoms-up and top-down design based on analysis of E2E use cases.

  • Experience with software development processes such as Automotive SPICE/CMM/ASIL-B

  • Experience in system performance estimation (eg. bandwidth, memory, power) and characterization for concurrent use cases

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to work with developers across the different site.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$111,300.00 - $166,900.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
