Job Summary
Job Description
The role involves developing scalable and reliable web services and solutions within the routing domain as part of a motivated engineering team. Responsibilities include end-to-end development of features and services for core Gojek businesses, supporting production and integration environments, and collaborating with the Cartography Data Science team to implement their models and data into practical solutions. You will also work with the Map Ops team to develop features for geospatial data curation and fine-tuning, and actively track and report team execution metrics.
Must have:
- 4+ years of software development experience
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain web applications
- Proficiency in a programming language (backend focus preferred)
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Object-oriented programming knowledge
- Proficiency with unit testing, preferably TDD
- Develop scalable REST + JSON APIs and web front ends
Good to have:
- Generalist with a growth mindset
- Ability to absorb best engineering practices
- Experience with Golang or Java
- Experience with Javascript / React.js
- Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases (Redis, PostgreSQL + PostGIS, ElasticSearch)

About the Role
This role will require you to develop scalable and reliable web services and solutions within the routing domain. Be part of a highly-productive and motivated engineering team on its journey to deliver the best products to GoJek users and internal customers. This role provides an opportunity to work on challenging real-world geospatial problems in one of the most prominent startups in South-East Asia.
What will you do
- Be responsible for the end-to-end development and delivery of small to medium size features and services to power core Gojek businesses
- Support production and integration environments with your colleagues and participate in incident resolution
- Collaborate closely with the Cartography Data Science team to turn their models and data into practical solutions
- Work with the Map Ops team to develop features that help curation and fine-tuning of geospatial data
- Actively support the tracking and reporting execution metrics within your team
What you will need
- At least 4+ year of experience in software development Hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, deploying, and maintaining web applications in any programming language, preferably with a solid backend development background
- Knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases
- Knowledge and experience with object-oriented programming
- Proficiency with unit testing, preferably with TDDTo be a generalist with a growth mindset
- Ability to absorb the best engineering practices and take pride in your work
- Experience developing scalable REST + JSON APIs and web front ends.
- We primarily use Golang and Java for backend work and Javascript / React.js for frontend work. Familiarity with one or more is a plus.
- Knowledge of different databases (SQL / NoSQL) and their tradeoffs. We primarily use Redis, PostgreSQL + PostGIS, and ElasticSearch; familiarity with any is a plus

The Cartography team is an internal team that surfaces mapping technologies needed by all internal product teams within Gojek.
