Job Description

As a Data Engineering Intern at Super.com, you will be building scalable and highly available data pipelines. You'll work on data-intensive applications, ensuring high data quality and uptime, and collaborate with analysts on a full-stack data team. You will be involved in building and maintaining pipelines to ingest large amounts of data from various sources, setting up Reverse-ETL syncs for operational analytics, writing automated tests for reliability and data integrity, and implementing improvements in platform operations. This internship offers an opportunity to work on a modern data stack, including Airflow, Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, and Hightouch, and be part of a fast-growing tech company.

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Engineer Intern to join our growing team for the Summer 2024 Term (May - Aug). In this role, you will have the opportunity to build scalable and highly available data pipelines using modern tech and tools on one of Canada’s fastest-growing startups. As a Data Engineer, you’ll build highly reliable and scalable ELT pipelines for large datasets. You’ll work on data-intensive applications, ensuring high data quality and uptime, and work directly with analysts on a full-stack data team. You’ll have lots of autonomy to create impact while tackling intricate technical problems.

Challenges You'll Solve

    • Building and maintaining pipelines that ingest large amounts of data from various sources
    • Setting up Reverse-ETL syncs to power operational analytics
    • Write various styles of automated tests to ensure operational reliability and data integrity
    • Implement improvements in our platform operations

Our Tech

    • We use a SOA architecture powered by many micro-services, including the bot platform, the NLP engine and the pricing/recommendation engines
    • We use a modern data stack of Airflow, Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Hightouch, and more
    • We built a proprietary event logging platform which processes terabytes of data weekly
    • We have a distributed ELT infrastructure hosted using Kubernetes and AWS

About You

    • You have at least 6-18 months of Data Engineering or Software Engineering work experience, preferably with exposure to a dynamic, startup environment
    • You learn quickly, regardless of the languages and technologies used
    • You have experience building scalable data pipelines and powerful reporting tools
    • You thrive on decoding complex problems with logical, well-reasoned solutions
