About this position
The Global IT Electronics Applications Manager will drive planning and implementation activities of IT enabled initiatives within Electronics Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools. This individual will be responsible for the planning and execution of assigned information technology strategy, roadmap and solution delivery projects within the Electronics Engineering area. This role will interface with business leaders, IT program managers, architects, portfolio planners and analysts providing a rich, diversified and global work environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate a can-do attitude in a dynamic, global environment and bring with him/her a solid business-facing IT project delivery experience.
Your Role
Responsibilities and duties:
Engineering Management:
- Collaborate with engineering technical leads to identify common engineering business requirements and translate and drive these into initiative roadmaps (long term strategic plans) and operating plans for engineering services strategies,
- Provide assistance with gap assessment between design needs and engineering applications including but not restricted to Electrical CAD systems,
- Facilitate interaction between design groups in different locations globally,
- Experience working with Mentor Xpedition is mandatory
- Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations, but also partner with the IT architecture group to understand how future IT trends can address design needs, Support the IT Project Delivery Team with Engineering application and technology direction to assure that current project choices are consistent and aligned to the 5 year electronics design roadmap,
- Work with the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) lead in integrating design data with other functional areas, such as, simulation and product testing,
- Assist in determining industry benchmarks, best practices, and appropriate costs for engineering services by leveraging knowledge of external institutions and suppliers. Ensure that these key industry standards, trends and tools are factored into the Engineering service offerings and support initiative roadmaps as required,
- Accountable for software license management, annual purchase order creation within Service Area,
- Support Technical Services to manage budget, actuals and forecast, to achieve the annual capital and expense spending targets,
- Support purchasing (Supply Chain Management) to align commercial contracts with electronics design roadmap
Strategy and Planning:
- Collaborate with enterprise, division and business unit teams to develop an “integrated functional Engineering strategy and roadmap” for the stated functions.
Portfolio Planning and Management:
- Support the top-down and bottom-up effort to create a business-IT aligned regional portfolio of IT initiatives with cost estimates and quantifiable business benefits.
- Provide timely input on prioritization of IT initiatives based on organizational needs/strategy, IT workload and budget.
Business Case Development:
- Create business cases for IT portfolio appropriation requests jointly with business leaders and business unit finance.

Domain knowledge:
- Strong proven experience in electronics development process
- Experience with Mentor Xpedition
- Experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
- Working knowledge and experience in providing IT solutions within the Engineering Tower
Solution Selection:
- Drive solution selection and implementation for assigned business systems.
- Support the RFI, RFP, sourcing, negotiation of applicable enterprise engineering license agreements and contracts as required.
Reporting and Communications:
- Keep sponsors, business partners and IT stakeholders informed on progress of projects, production incidents, issues, risks, financials to ensure transparency, business input and collaborative decision making.
Operations Escalations:
- Manage operational escalations as needed with members of IT operations team.
- Provide the oversight for resolution of escalated IT issues.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor or Master degree in the field of technology, computer graphics, engineering or equivalent experience R
- Solid relevant work experience working with electronics design R
- Experience leading design and implementation of technology solutions, strategies and technologies P
- Experience with ECAD and electronics simulation software (Siemens Electrical Design Automation, Synopsys, Keysight)
- Experience in Automotive or Manufacturing industry P
- Creation of IT strategy, roadmap, and standards documents P
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management systems P
- Exceptionally self-motivated, directed and able to work in a geographically dispersed team R

- Good analytical, evaluating and problem-solving abilities R
