Job Description

The Junior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving the Mosaic API SaaS product using new technologies and best agile practices. This role involves collaboration with engineers and stakeholders to ensure the product meets customer needs. The Software Engineer will be part of a full-stack team responsible for designing, analyzing requirements, developing, implementing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software solutions. Key duties include designing and developing the Mosaic API SaaS product and CI pipeline infrastructure, performing software design and implementation, conducting feasibility studies, documenting designs, and participating in code reviews. Additionally, the engineer will plan and perform testing, fix software bugs, and work with the team to deploy releases.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 2 years of active experience.
  • Experience with software design and debugging.
  • Strong competencies in data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with a modern web development framework.
  • Experience with a modern web development language.
  • Experience with Python.
  • B1 English proficiency level.
  • Excellent teamwork abilities.
Good to have:
  • Experience with a modern web test framework.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development.
  • Experience with Python3.
  • Experience with cloud deployments such as AWS.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet and networking protocols.
  • Experience developing and deploying large scale applications.
  • Experience with coding and scripting in Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS.
  • Experience with wireframing GUI designs.
  • Experience with testing tools such as Protractor, Cypress, Jasmine, Selenium, ng-api-mock.

Adtran is looking for an outstanding Junior Software Engineer to work on its exciting new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product: Mosaic API. Mosaic API is a cloud-based system that aggregates information from many management and orchestration platforms, broadband access, and consumer in-home devices to produce helpful, targeted workflows for our users and AI driven insights that ensure our customers’ success. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and continually improving our product using new technologies and best agile practices, and will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure the product meets the needs of our customers. 

The Software Engineer will be a member of a full-stack team responsible for designing, analyzing requirements, developing, implementing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software solutions for Adtran products including but not limited to the following:  application development, system software architecture, software test development, and customer assistance. Requires ability to perform engineering tasks for a major project or for projects of moderate complexity with limited direction. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Example target projects:  Design or assist in the design and development of the Mosaic API SaaS product; Design or assist in the design and development of CI pipeline infrastructure needed to carry out build and test requirements for Mosaic API.  

  • Perform or assist in high-level and low-level software design and implementation of new modules and enhancements to existing software.    

  • Perform or assist in feasibility studies of needed software development.    

  • Document the design including features definition and architecture.    

  • Conduct and participate in design reviews and code reviews.  

  • Plan and perform unit and system level testing of implemented software modules and enhancements.  

  • Help fix software bugs found during all testing phases.  

  • Work with team to deploy and test incremental software releases.  

  • Organize and coordinate development activities within schedule and product constraints.  

  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.  

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Information Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education required.  

  • At least 2 years of active experience. 

  • Experience with software design, implementation and debugging including inter-process communication and multi-threading techniques is required.  

  • A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering.  

  • Experience with at least one modern web development framework (Angular, React). 

  • Experience with at least one modern web development language (TypeScript, JavaScript). 

  • Experience with Python. 

  • At least B1 English proficiency level. 

  • Excellent teamwork abilities. 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience with at least one modern web test framework (Jasmine, Protractor). 

  • Experience with Test Driven Development and Unit Test Frameworks. 

  • Experience with Python3. 

  • Experience with testing and development tools such as pyTest. 

  • Experience with cloud deployments such as AWS. 

  • Familiarity with Ethernet and networking protocols. 

  • Experience developing and deploying large scale applications. 

  • Experience with coding and scripting in Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS.  

  • Experience with wireframing GUI designs (e.g., Balsamiq Mockups). 

  • Experience with testing tools such as Protractor, Cypress, Jasmine, Selenium, ng-api-mock.
