The VAT CoE Team Lead will organize and oversee EMEA VAT CoE operations, managing and developing a team of 5-8 members. Key responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate VAT reporting, reconciling declarations, and coordinating processes with various departments and external providers. The role involves supporting IT systems, maintaining documentation, and managing VAT risk areas. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in indirect taxes and VAT compliance in EMEA, with at least 5 years of experience in VAT reporting and 3 years in team management.
Must have:
  • Oversee EMEA VAT CoE operations and performance.
  • Manage, develop, and train EMEA VAT CoE team members.
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT reporting for entities.
  • Provide VAT reporting according to Aptiv procedures and US GAAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT reporting for management.
  • Reconcile indirect tax declarations and VAT accounts.
  • Coordinate VAT processes with internal and external teams.
  • Cooperate with auditors and tax authorities.
  • Support IT systems, optimization, and automation.
  • Prepare and maintain policies and process documentation.
  • Maintain required certifications and accesses.
  • Identify and manage VAT risk areas with Tax Team.
  • Support global tax projects and strategies.
  • Coordinate VAT registration/deregistration with external providers.
  • Execute tasks in compliance with Aptiv quality system.

Job Details

Your Role:

  • Organize and oversee EMEA VAT CoE operations and performance according to the direction given by department’s Manager.
  • Manage, develop and train EMEA VAT CoE employees (approx.. 5-8 team members).
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT reporting for the entities in scope - according to local tax and accounting rules (VAT returns and corrections preparation and filling) as well as providing reporting required by Aptiv
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT reporting for the entities in scope – according to Aptiv procedures and needs, incl. US GAAP requirements (e.g. FAS5 reporting)
  • Ensure timely and accurate VAT reporting for Aptiv management purposes.
  • Provide reconciliation of indirect taxes declarations to other official statements and assuring VAT accounts reconciliations in required systems.
  • Coordinate VAT related processes and cooperate with other departments (especially with TAX Team, GBS, Finance, Operations, Logistics, Customs) and with external service providers.
  • Cooperate with internal and external auditors and with local tax authorities.
  • Support implementation and IT systems maintenance as well as optimization, standardization and processes automation.
  • Prepare and maintain of up to date policies and processes documentation.
  • Maintain up to date required certifications and accesses.
  • Identify and manage, with cooperation with Tax Team, Vat risk areas.
  • Support global tax projects. Tax strategies identification and implementation - especially those related to VAT in EMEA region.
  • Manage and coordinate with external providers VAT registering and deregistering processes and maintain required VAT registration, according to Aptiv business needs in EMEA region.
  • On-time execution of assigned tasks in compliance with the valid quality system valid for Aptiv corporation and Technical Center in Krakow

Your Background:

  • Higher education in a field of taxes, law, accounting, finance or economics
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in indirect taxes and VAT compliance processes in EMEA region
  • Min 5 years of experience in VAT reporting and VAT compliance in EMEA region
  • Experience in team management - min. 3 years
  • Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines and manage a number of projects simultaneously
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Very good computer skills - especially MS Excel
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Licensed tax advisor
  • Experience with SAP
