Job Description

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and supporting the company's growth. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role involves leading financial planning, forecasting, and cash flow management. Responsibilities include developing financial models, leading quarterly forecasting, managing cash flow, overseeing the monthly close, maintaining long-range financial plans, and partnering with the executive team on strategic initiatives. The role also involves KPI development, variance analysis, investor reporting, process improvement, and team collaboration to ensure alignment on financial goals. The role requires providing critical financial insights and guidance to the leadership team and other departments within the company. The individual will be expected to drive the financial strategy within the company.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field
  • 10+ years of FP&A experience in a high-growth environment
  • Strong financial modeling skills
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience with cash flow management

The Opportunity
AliveCor is seeking a highly analytical and proactive Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to play a pivotal role in driving our financial strategy and supporting rapid growth. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for establishing and leading all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic finance. Responsibilities:
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and own the company's financial models, providing robust analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making across all departments.
  • Quarterly Forecasting: Lead the quarterly forecasting process, working closely with department heads to build accurate and insightful projections that inform operational plans and resource allocation.
  • Cash Flow Management: Develop, monitor, and manage the company's cash flow projections, ensuring optimal liquidity and providing proactive insights on potential risks and opportunities.
  • Monthly Close: Oversee the monthly financial close process, working in collaboration with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Long-Range Planning: Maintain the company's long-range financial plan, aligning with strategic objectives and providing a framework for future growth and potential funding rounds.
  • Strategic Finance: Partner with the executive team on strategic initiatives, providing financial analysis and modeling to evaluate opportunities such as new product development, market expansion, and potential partnerships.
  • KPI Development & Reporting: Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) across the organization, providing insightful analysis of performance against targets and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct thorough variance analysis of actual results against budget and forecast, providing clear explanations of key drivers and recommending corrective actions.
  • Investor Reporting and due diligence: Support the preparation of financial reports and presentations for potential investors, and board members, providing clear and concise updates on the company's performance and outlook.
  • Process Improvement: Utilize AI to streamline and automate FP&A processes and improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with accounting, operations, sales, marketing, product and other departments to ensure alignment on financial goals and provide financial support as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably within a high-growth environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling principles and best practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in cash flow management and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles and the monthly close process.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial planning software (experience with NetSuite and Adaptive is a plus).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive and results-oriented mindset with a strong attention to detail.
The range for this Mountain View-based role is $185,000-210,000
