Job Description

The Finance Controller manages and is responsible for the performance of the finance team, delivering insightful and fast reporting and analysis to support business planning within a strong controls environment. Key responsibilities include accurate and compliant financial reporting for markets and business units with commentary, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies, and maintaining robust financial controls. The role involves analyzing divisional results, identifying risks and growth opportunities, and making recommendations for improvement. Additionally, the controller will review financial information against historical data and future plans, own market balance sheets, and approve reconciliations. They will also support financial audits, coordinate month-end review processes, and manage relationships with external partners. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of accounting and reporting experience, with Mandarin literacy being a requirement. Experience in FMCG and Shared Services is considered a plus.

The Finance Controller manages and is responsible for the performance of the finance team supporting the relevant Regional Financial Controller (Regional FC) for their Business Unit and Markets by

delivering right first-time reporting and analysis which is insightful, fast and supports the business to develop accurate plans in a strong controls and assurance environment.
The role helps to deliver the Finance vision of a “world class finance function recognized by industry, the profession and our people” which underpins the Haleon vision.


Key Responsibilities
Describe the key deliverables to be achieved by the post holder and the ongoing responsibilities of the role.

  • Responsible for the reporting of financial results for their market and business unit with commentary including income, balance sheet and cash flow which is accurate, complete and:

  • Fully compliant with all relevant accounting standards, current best practice and any other regulations

  • Consistently applies accounting policies which are appropriate to the current business environment.

  • Tightly controls transaction activity that operates in line with global processes and incorporates best practice financial controls.

  • Delivers insight to the Division in key areas of risk, growth and performance making recommendations for continuous improvements and remedial action as required.

  • Sign off of statutory results with in-market FD when supporting a senior FD. This will also require co-ordination of activities across the other business units (ie Cx & GMS)

  • Consolidation, analysis and interpretation of Divisional results and ensures that there are no surprises

  • Review financial information against historical run rates and future growth plans

  • Owns the Market balance sheets including approval of reconciliations

  • Review of accounting papers

  • Supports and is responsible for the inputs to the external and internal financial audits for their division

  • Co-ordinate the month end review process, OE reporting requirements, facilitating month end meetings, coordinating with in-country finance board, maintaining risk register & coordinating with all external partners

  • Comparing monthly results & variance analysis

  • Owns the Market balance sheets including approval of reconciliations
