Job Description

As a Senior Build Engineer, you will take technical ownership of a build system that supports mobile games. You will design and scale a Bazel-based build system for multiple platforms, collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer workflows, lead technical design, and share best practices. The role is remote, with a preference for candidates in Stockholm, and requires a 100% assignment for a 6-month duration, with possible extension. The mission involves designing and maintaining Bazel-based build systems, collaborating with engineering teams, leading technical design, and sharing best practices.
Must have:
  • Deep experience designing and maintaining Bazel-based build systems
  • Familiarity with how C++ projects compile
  • Solid understanding of Starlark for writing Bazel rules
  • Skilled at identifying and resolving technical debt
  • Able to communicate and document complex systems clearly
  • Experience leading architecture discussions and mentoring others
Good to have:
  • Experience working with CMake as a meta-build system
  • Familiarity with BuildBuddy (SaaS or self-hosted)
  • Contributions to Bazel-related open-source projects
  • Android build system expertise

As a Senior Build Engineer, you’ll help architect and evolve a multi-platform Bazel setup used by hundreds of developers, directly influencing speed, reliability, and workflow efficiency across a large-scale game production environment.

Mission Brief

In this role, you’ll design and scale a Bazel-based build system for multiple platforms. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer workflows, lead technical design, and share best practices through training and documentation.

Details:

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Duration: 6 months (extension possible)
  • Occupancy rate: 100% assignment (Full-time)
  • Level: Senior
  • Work set-up: Remote (Stockholm preferred but not required)
  • Time zone: ±1 CET /
