Universal Music Group (UMG) is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their finance team. This role supports the preparation and consolidation of financial plans, forecasts, and actuals for Corporate Divisions. The analyst will collaborate with label finance teams and central accounting to support monthly close processes, analyze variances, and prepare financial forecasts and annual plans. Responsibilities include providing day-to-day finance support to Corporate Divisions, liaising with business unit leaders, preparing quarterly forecasts and annual plans, analyzing actual variances to budget, maintaining financial models, and driving system improvements for financial analysis and reporting tools. Ad hoc reporting and analysis are also required. This position offers an opportunity for professional growth within the music industry.
Must have:
  • 2-3 years in financial planning & analysis, accounting, or audit experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Detail-oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Excel financial modeling
  • Organizational skills for prioritizing and multitasking
  • Effective communication, verbal and written
  • Results-oriented, able to work independently and in a team
Good to have:
  • Experience with accounting and financial applications software
  • Hyperion Financial Management/Smartview Reporting experience

This position is responsible for various aspects of the preparation and consolidation of Plan, Forecast and Actuals for the Corporate Divisions.  This position will interact with Universal Music label Finance teams and the Central Accounting team to support the monthly close processes, document variance explanations, and analyze results. The individual will be preparing monthly/quarterly financial forecast and annual plan while also assisting with other ad hoc analyses as required.

This team works a Hybrid work schedule.

How you’ll CREATE: 

  • Provide day to day finance support to the Corporate Divisions and liaise with the various business unit leaders on key elements of the forecast, plan, and monthly close.

  • Prepare quarterly financial forecasts and annual plan and assist with the monthly cash forecast

  • Analyze actual variances to budget and forecast for various Corporate Divisions and communicate any issues

  • Maintain and update budget/forecast financial models and support departmental reviews and consolidation.

  • Effectively analyze data (including general ledger account detail) to ensure accuracy of reporting.

  • Drive efficiency by identifying areas for system improvement/ adoption as well as guiding continuous improvement efforts for financial analysis & reporting tools

  • Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.

Bring your VIBE: 

  • Minimum 2-3 years in financial planning & analysis, accounting and/or audit experience required

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred 

  • Must be able to keep information confidential 

  • Detail-oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with business and financial acumen

  • Demonstrable proficiency with excel financial modeling as well as accounting and financial applications software; Hyperion Financial Management/Smartview Reporting, SAP experience a plus

  • Great organizational skills with the ability to prioritize & multitask in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with supervisors and personnel and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, business partners and company leaders.

  • Must be results-oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
