The Role:

AuthZed is hiring its first IC Technical Product Manager to work alongside our Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer. This isn’t just another product role — it’s a chance to shape the future of our platform and drive innovation where your expertise and creativity will leave a lasting impact. You'll be part of a passionate team, solving challenging problems in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and authorization models. Your vision will lead directly to the success of customers using AuthZed’s products worldwide.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for translating complex business needs into actionable technical requirements, guiding our products from concept through launch and iteration. As the link between engineering, design, and revenue your expertise and guidance will ensure that what we build is of the highest impact and value to our growing customer and user base.

We’re a hardworking group of good natured people and some of the smartest minds in cloud-native and authorization technology. We embrace an engineering-driven culture and our product demands a team with a technical background even outside of engineering roles. Someone successful in this role possesses a deep technical acuity that allows you to engage meaningfully with engineers on architecture and implementation details while also communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders about progress, risks, and outcomes. If you don’t have opinions on topics like "what makes a great API or CLI", this is not the role for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Cross-functional collaboration with customers, engineering, leadership, and the rest of the product org to define the vision and roadmap for our products
  • Work alongside the engineering team to set expectations and priorities for development
  • Develop pricing and package for our products that resonates with both our customers and our revenue/go-to-market teams
  • Enable sales and marketing with collateral for announcements and timelines
  • Author public-facing technical and product documentation
  • Advocating the product externally to the company via blogging, webinars, demos, speaking at conferences, and more
  • Work alongside sales, customer success, and engineering to troubleshoot and unblock customers and opportunities

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in a technical field or equivalent additional experience
  • Technical enough to build demos, answer questions, and understand feedback from engineers leveraging SpiceDB
  • Experience engineering or managing a database or IAM product
  • History and a demonstrated ability to work remotely with a distributed team
  • Residing within and/or willing to work core hours in US Eastern Time
  • Passion and deep understanding of open source software development
  • Curiosity to deeply understand and accurately represent all of our stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting comprehensive product research
  • Comfort presenting publicly and working directly with customers
  • Ability to thrive while creating order from chaos in a growing, early-stage start-up
