The Sr. Systems Engineer, M365 will be a senior team member responsible for the design, implementation, management, maintenance, and security of Sony Pictures Entertainment's Microsoft 365 platform. This role involves optimizing and securing M365 product suites, including identity, communications, collaboration, analytics, and productivity tools. The engineer will provide infrastructure support, problem resolution, and technical solution development, ensuring compliance with company policies and improving user experiences through innovative technology.
Must have:

  • Collaborate with IT and business units to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Stay current with Microsoft 365 updates and recommend improvements.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Develop key performance metrics to drive business value of IT.
  • Conduct user training and provide technical support for M365 tools.
  • Primarily responsible for SPE’s M365 tenant.
  • Manage outages, identify root cause, and resolve all M365 issues.
  • Participate in the change control processes.
  • Participate in the development of operational procedures and policies.
  • Communicate change requests, issues, and resolutions to IT and customers.
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate business issues as appropriate.
  • Act as escalation point for operations support team.
  • Manage after-hours and on-call support.
  • Develop and maintain project plans for M365 projects.
  • Provide oral and written status reports to IT management and customers.

Job Details

The Sr. Engineer will be a senior member of a team accountable for the design, implementation, management, maintenance and security of the Microsoft 365 (M365) platform. The Sr. Engineer will collaborate with operation teams to optimize and secure M365 product suites, which includes identity, communications, collaboration, analytics and visualization, advanced technology, productivity tools and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in cloud services and a passion for improving user experiences through innovative technology solutions and service excellence.

The Sr. Engineer is responsible for providing infrastructure support functions including problem determination and resolution, technical solution development, policies, procedures and processes governing the use and operation of the M365 platform in accordance with company policies.

This position requires an emphasis on infrastructure problem management, project management as well as building and maintaining positive business relationships with the IT Organizations, clients, and vendors. Fulfillment of responsibilities must be performed with a minimum amount of supervision.

Responsibilities:

System Engineering

  • Design, implement and manage M365 services in accordance with global and security policy requirements.
  • Responsible for the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) of the M365 platform.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot M365 platform issues, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Manage outages, identify root cause analysis and resolve all M365 platform issues within allowed service levels.
  • Proactively identify and remediate security risks pertaining to the platform and product suites.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for M365 configurations, processes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions that enhance productivity.
  • Stay current with Microsoft 365 updates and features, recommending continuous improvements and new functionalities.
  • Lead in cross-functional projects and contribute to strategic planning for future M365 initiatives.
  • Develop key performance metrics to drive business value of IT.
  • Conduct user training and provide technical support to ensure effective use of M365 tools.

IT Operations Support

  • Primarily responsible for SPE’s M365 tenant.
  • Manage outages, identify root cause, and resolve all M365 issues within allowed service levels.
  • Participate in the change control processes.
  • Participate in the development of operational procedures and policies.
  • Communicate change requests, issues and resolutions, event status as well other important matters to all areas of IT and customer departments.
  • Identify, resolve and escalate business issues as appropriate.
  • Escalation point for operations support team.
  • Manage after hours and on-call support.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project plans for medium to large sized M365 projects.
  • Provide oral and written status reports to IT management and customers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of systems concepts (Unix or Linux).
  • Minimum 8 years employment in the IT industry working with a major systems and vendors.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with M365 Cloud environment required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange and ProofPoint required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Power Platform.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with MDM (InTune).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Graph API, Terraform.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform product suites, identity and federation services and cloud security.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required. Ability to work effectively with team members, clients and other areas of the IT environment.
  • Strong written and oral communications
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong decision making skills and make sound judgment decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members, clients and other areas of IT
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to deliver on time.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code / configuration management is a plus.
  • Programming experience is a plus.
  • 2+ years of entertainment experience is a plus.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $120,000-$150,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
