Job Description

As a Senior Account Executive at Marsh, you will be responsible for managing and growing a book of business, including large and complex accounts. Your role involves acting as a trusted advisor, developing new business, and expanding the range of Marsh products and services offered to clients. You will analyze client needs, develop solutions, and maintain strong relationships. The role also requires participation in industry events and conferences to build professional networks and represent the company.
Must have:
  • 5+ years' experience in corporate or commercial insurance.
  • Strong business acumen with knowledge of general business and finance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Achieve and maintain NZ Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5).
Good to have:
  • 7+ years’ experience within Insurance broking.
  • Understanding of business and organizational risk management.
  • Prior experience managing complex accounts.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance and client engagement.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills.

Description:

Marsh is seeking candidates for a Senior Account Executive position in our Corporate Practice. The position is based in our Auckland office, but Wellington or Christchurch could also be considered for the right person.

You will be responsible for the growth, profitability and client satisfaction of a book of business containing large and complex accounts. This includes managing and developing client relationships, acting as the client's trusted advisor, developing new business and expanding and diversifying the mix of Marsh products and services the client holds.

We will count on you to:

  • Maintain and grow personal relationships and a book of business, and contribute to team sales targets

  • Conduct and analyse research to maintain a comprehensive understanding of personal accounts and coinciding business needs, as well as core team accounts to maintain a comfortable handle on the portfolio at large

  • Utilise risk expertise and knowledge of industry and the insurance marketplace to review clients’ exposures and loss experience and develop solutions for client needs

  • Assist in presentations to prospective clients and develop innovative solutions to help gain new clients and projects

  • Identify expansion opportunities for personal and team accounts, leveraging your understanding of internal service and product offerings, market trends and developments and the business standing of specific accounts

  • Attend and participate in industry events and conferences and client functions to build up a strong professional network, maintain proximity to the relevant market and represent the Company and its product offerings and solutions

We would like you to have:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a corporate or commercial insurance environment

  • Strong business acumen including a well-rounded knowledge of general business function, finance and issues

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization including the ‘C’ Suite

  • Ability to prioritise work, multi-task and consistently meet deadlines

  • Achieve and maintain NZ Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5)

  • Insurance qualifications (ANZIIF or similar)

  • Degree preferred
