Job Description

As a Senior Body Systems Engineer, you will be a key player in the development of electric pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs. Your responsibilities include creating CAD data, optimizing designs for cost, functionality, and manufacturability, and collaborating with suppliers. You will also be involved in virtual and physical verification testing, ensuring designs meet safety standards and consumer expectations. This role requires 3-4 days of in-office attendance, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. You will work to solve problems, build teams and ensure designs are up to safety standards.
Must have:
  • Expertise in CAD tools, processes, and PDM systems
  • 8+ years of experience in body mechanical areas
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert in CATIA V5 and PDM systems
  • Ability to lead simultaneous engineering teams
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE)
  • Good knowledge of MS Office products

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • You are the expert regarding CAD-tools, CAD processes and PDM systems
  • Creating CAD-Data to help the body systems team with new concepts and find solutions in a dynamic working environment
  • Optimizing CAD-Data with respect to cost, functionality, weight, and manufacturability.
  • Developing CAD data for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
  • Working together with suppliers and engineering service providers.
  • Be a part of a diverse team while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
  • Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
  • Manage resources efficiently including infrastructure, financial, supplier partners and people.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
  • The responsibilities of this role require 3-4 days attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, engineering management or a relevant field
  • Years of Experience required in type of role: 8+ years of experience in body mechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert in CATIA V5 and PDM systems. Including the ability to make 3D parametric models and 2D drawings
  • Strong technical skills and expertise to problem-solving
  • Ability to lead simultaneous engineering teams
  • Good knowledge of MS Office products
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $140,000.00 - $160,000.00
