Job Description

The Software Engineer will work on NCommand, a Linux server-based management platform that enables communication service providers to manage Adtran’s NetVanta family of CPE gear. The responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and enhancing applications, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders, performing software design and implementation, conducting code reviews, fixing bugs, and providing technical guidance. The candidate should be proficient in Linux, Java, C++, Angular, and have experience with large software codebase management. They should also possess excellent troubleshooting, teamwork, and communication skills. The role is part of a cross-functional Agile team split across Poland, the Southeast U.S., and India.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3-5 years of software development experience
  • Proficient with Linux and hosted development
  • Experience with Java, C++, Angular and Bash
  • Experience with software codebase management - GIT/GitHub
  • Excellent troubleshooting and teamwork skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with cloud hosted applications and AWS microservices
  • Experience with web frameworks (Angular, React)
  • Technical Leadership and mentoring experience

Adtran is seeking a Software Engineer with expertise in full stack development. You will work on NCommand, a Linux server-based management platform that enables communication service providers to manage Adtran’s NetVanta family of CPE gear including routers, VOIP gateways, and switches. The NCommand system is hosted on a Rocky Linux distro., built upon processes based on Java and C++ languages, SQL database, Apache server, and Angular based UIYou will be part of a cross-functional Agile team that is split across Poland, Southeast U.S. and India. 

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and enhance the application(s) 

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders 

  • Perform high and low-level software design and implementation 

  • Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality solutions 

  • Fix software bugs and support incremental releases 

  • Provide technical guidance to other team members 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 

  • At least 3-5 years of software development experience 

  • Proficient with Linux in the context of hosted development, utilities and tools, system user, security, performance, container management, and ISO & RPM packaging, VM, & container distribution methods 

  • Professional experience with Java, C++, Angular and/or AngularJS, Bash 

  • Experience with large software codebase management – GIT/GITHub VCS, branch management, documentation, code review, and coding/style best practices 

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills 

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills 

  • Proficiency in Polish (C1) and English (B2) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud hosted applications and AWS microservices (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, S3) 

  • Experience with web frameworks (Angular, React) and languages (TypeScript, JavaScript) 

  • Technical Leadership and mentoring experience
