Job Description

Ambient.ai is seeking a driven Technical Sales Engineer (TSE) to support their AI-powered physical security platform. In this pre-sales role, you will be crucial in winning enterprise clients by assisting with pilots, configuring hardware, and demonstrating the platform's technical value. You will act as a primary technical point of contact, partnering with Sales Engineers to execute pilot evaluations, respond to RFPs, build custom demos, and configure server hardware. Collaboration with Product and Engineering teams to gather feedback and improve the product is also a key responsibility. This role requires strong communication, troubleshooting skills, and a passion for solving complex problems in the physical security industry.

About the role:

We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Technical Sales Engineer (TSE) to join us in our mission to prevent every security incident possible. In this pre-sales support role, you’ll play a critical part in winning over Fortune 500 customers by supporting pilots, deploying and configuring hardware, and helping articulate the technical value of Ambient.ai’s platform.

You’ll be a key technical resource, partnering with Sales Engineers as the primary technical point of contact. You’ll assist in executing pilot evaluations, responding to RFPs, building customized demos, and supporting other pre-sales activities. You’ll take ownership of configuring server hardware, coordinating onsite delivery and connectivity, and remotely setting up the Ambient.ai software. You’ll also collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to capture field feedback, drive product improvements, and maintain demo environments with enhancements, bug fixes, and new content.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with Sales Engineers to configure pilots and support complex, multi-stakeholder deals

  • Assist in the successful deployment of technical pilots (proofs of concept/proof of value) with enterprise customers

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Customer Success, and Engineering to influence the roadmap and serve as the voice of the customer

  • Support compelling product demos and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences, clearly articulating Ambient.ai’s differentiated value

  • Help win deals through thoughtful preparation, technical precision, and a consultative problem-solving approach

  • Build trust with customers by providing technical expertise, addressing inquiries, and offering tailored solutions

What you’ll bring:

  • 1–3+ years of experience supporting or selling enterprise technology, particularly in SaaS and/or innovative hardware-based solutions

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong troubleshooting mindset

  • Self-motivated, driven, and competitive with a passion for solving meaningful problems

  • Customer-first attitude with a blend of technical knowledge and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Proficiency with the command line and basic Bash scripting; familiarity with container technologies

  • Foundational networking experience (e.g., assigning IPs/masks/gateways to NICs, configuring VLANs, understanding L2 vs. L3 networking, and physical vs. logical network isolation)

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure

  • Familiarity with physical security technologies like security cameras and PACS (physical access control systems)

Salary and Equity:

At Ambient.ai, we take a market-based approach to compensation. Final offers are based on job-related skills, experience, location, and internal equity.

Base salary is just one part of our total rewards package, including stock options and the opportunity to share in the company’s growth.

The starting base salary range for this role is in Redwood City, CA: $115,000 - $130,000 + commission
