Elsewhere Entertainment is seeking Tools Engineers (Mid to Senior Principal levels) to design, implement, and maintain robust tools for content creation and game development. Responsibilities include partnering with artists and engineers, identifying pipeline improvements, developing a proprietary UI framework, and providing technical guidance. Candidates should have 4-10+ years of experience in professional programming, strong C++ skills, knowledge of UI toolkits, and a solid understanding of design patterns. The role involves creating user-friendly tools to enhance productivity and unlock creative potential for next-generation AAA experiences.
Must have:
  • 4-10+ years professional programming experience
  • Strong C++ skills (multi-threading, profiling)
  • Game tooling and pipeline experience
  • UI toolkit knowledge (Qt, wxWidgets etc.)
  • Understanding of design patterns
Good to have:
  • UI/UX knowledge for game tools
  • Python and plugin development experience
  • Knowledge of game content pipelines (FBX, USD)
  • Procedural generation pipeline experience

We’re hiring across levels of seniority - from around 4 years of experience up to Senior Principal level (10+ years career) - and are excited to speak with candidates at any point in their career who are passionate about building tools that empower creators.

In this role, you will take ownership of the development of powerful, user-friendly tools and frameworks that streamline workflows and support our next-generation AAA experiences on our new IP

 

You will work closely with artists, designers, and other engineers to design and implement tools that enhance productivity and unlock creative potential.


You’ll help us by… 

 
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust tools for content creation and game development. 

  • Partnering with artists, designers, and engineers to deliver tools that meet their needs. 

  • Identifying opportunities for pipeline improvement that enhance productivity across teams. 

  • Developing and maintaining our proprietary UI framework. 

  • Providing technical guidance to team members, fostering growth and collaboration. 

  • Writing clean, reliable, and maintainable code.  

 

 

You’re awesome because you have… 

 
  • 4-10+ years as a professional programmer or a combination of education and relevant experience. 

  • A very solid knowledge of C++ best practices including multi-threading, profiling/optimization, and debugging.

  • A strong interest in game-specific tooling and pipelines, with hands-on experience developing tools for content creation. 

  • Knowledge of UI toolkits such as Qt, wxWidgets, WinForms, or similar frameworks, and the ability to build polished, intuitive interfaces. 

  • A solid understanding of design patterns used in games and tools.  

  • Strong English skills, both spoken and written, for effective collaboration and documentation. 

 

Bonus points for… 

 
  • Knowledge of best practices in UI/UX for game tools 

  • Knowledge of Python and experience in writing extensions/plugins 

  • Understanding of content pipelines and formats used in games (FBX, USD, etc)

  • Experience with Procedural Generation pipelines.
