Nintendo Technology Development
Sr. Linux Systems Engineer for the Nintendo Technology Development Inc. (NTD) organization will be responsible for supporting and expanding our Linux based offerings for our development community. This role is part of our IT organization and will work closely with DevOps and Engineering teams.
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers, systems and desktops (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.). Experience with Ubuntu is preferred.
- Design, plan and automate deployment of Linux systems and applications.
- Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability. Manage system performance, monitoring, backups, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure system security by configuring firewalls, SSL, VPNs, and applying patches and updates.
- Monitor and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner
- Perform routine system upgrades, patching, and security compliance checks.
- Administer and maintain virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM).
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support for escalated issues.
- Provide emergency response to critical outages or incidents.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal use.
- Research emerging tools and technologies that help improve automation, security and performance
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures
- 8+ years in Linux System administration/engineering, specifically with a strong emphasis on managing and supporting large-scale production environments using Ubuntu or Red Hat distributions.
- Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS, KVM, Kubernetes.
- Expert level understanding of TCP/IP, network services, and storage systems are also required.
- Experience installing and maintaining distributed storage solutions like CEPH is a strong plus.
- Kubernetes: Experience designing and managing on-prem Kubernetes clusters is nice to have.
- Automation mastery: Advanced skills in Ansible, Jenkins, Python/bash scripting.
- Experience with OpenStack, OpenNebula or similar cloud orchestration frameworks is a plus.
- Experience with Ubuntu/Canonical tools like MAAS, Landscape etc. is a plus.
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, or cloud-native monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
- BS or MS in engineering, computer science, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
This position is onsite in Redmond, WA, and not open to remote status at this time.
