As a Private Fleet Driver Manager, you will be responsible for interacting with drivers, resolving issues, and ensuring smooth operations. You will update systems, communicate load information, monitor truck movements, and address any problems. This includes managing driver performance, overseeing timecards, and acting as a liaison during breakdowns. The role requires strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure. You will work with the Hub Manager and other team members to oversee the execution of market strategy that complements the overall strategic operating and growth plans.

Job Summary

As a Private Fleet Driver Manager, you will be an integral member of UFPT working in a dynamic operational environment, to consistently exceed established goals, and demonstrate a commitment to customers and a dedication to excellence and innovation. 

In this role, you will be responsible for the daily interaction with private fleet drivers and resolving any driver-related issues, many of which are time-sensitive.  This position requires a self-managed individual who is a proficient communicator, solutions-driven, and possesses strong attention to detail to deliver a quality service experience.

The person in this role will report to the Hub Manager and will work with them and other team members within the organization to oversee the execution of market strategy that complements the overall strategic operating and growth plans.

Can office out of Alabama or Tennessee.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Updating systems and working with load planners to communicate load information to drivers, provide status updates, and schedule pickups and deliveries as needed

  • Monitoring the movement of trucks and freight from pickup and delivery by communicating with the drivers throughout the trip process to assess and address any issues or problems

  • Monitoring, prioritizing, and resolving any issues that may affect scheduled times for pickup or delivery caused by mechanical problems, delays due to traffic/weather, or changes requested by the customer regarding times or locations

  • Notifying drivers when required paperwork is missing, when equipment is scheduled for maintenance, etc

  • Ensuring drivers are trained on equipment and filling out daily VIR’s

  • Managing driver performance reviews

  • Overseeing driver timecard entry and vacations

  • Acting as a liaison between drivers and maintenance during a breakdown event to ensure timely repairs

  • Ability to motivate, influence and encourage a diverse group of drivers with varied skill levels and backgrounds

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Ability to multitask efficiently

  • Ability to handle emergency situations and make decisions quickly

  • Ability to troubleshoot driver issues and problem solve utilizing technology

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships across multiple functions

  • Working knowledge of TMS and understanding of system capabilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written format to all levels of leadership

  • Resolves conflicts/discrepancies positively, professionally, and timely

  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP’s organization, culture, and product lines

Qualifications

  • College degree in supply chain, business, financial or other applicable focus area preferred or

  • 2-4 year transportation experience preferred
