Sledgehammer Games is seeking a Lead Technical Dialogue Designer to enhance the aural experience for their next AAA project. This role involves collaborating with Dialogue, Narrative, and Engineering Teams, designing and iterating on proprietary dialogue tools, and implementing and debugging in-game dialogue assets. The designer will also edit and process dialogue, apply best practices, and mentor Toronto-based Dialogue Designers, ensuring high-quality audio delivery.
Must have:
  • Collaborate with Dialogue, Narrative, and Engineering Teams.
  • Design and iterate on proprietary Dialogue Tool and Database.
  • Implement dialogue assets using proprietary tools.
  • Test and debug all in-game dialogue for multiple pipelines.
  • Edit and process dialogue assets for all game aspects.
  • Apply studio and departmental best practices for dialogue workflows.
  • Lead and innovate the tech pipeline for dialogue across all modes.
  • Mentor Toronto-based Dialogue Designers.
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of game dialogue.
  • Expertise in proprietary/third-party Dialogue Tools and Databases.
  • Experience in both linear and interactive dialogue systems.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in game audio development.
  • Shipped at least three major titles.
  • Understanding of PS5, XBOX One/Series X, and PC audio functionality.
  • Experience with major digital audio workstations.
  • Experience with middleware programs like Wwise and Fmod.

  • FPS/Multi-player experience
  • Audio scripting experience

Your Mission

Sledgehammer Games is looking for a Lead Technical Dialogue Designer to help create a fresh new AAA aural experience for our next project. Candidates should be versed in dialogue editing and processing techniques and have a general knowledge of dialog pipelines. You will report to our Dialogue Director and help ensure delivery of the highest quality dialog with the use of internally developed proprietary tools.

  • Collaborate with the Dialogue, Narrative and Engineering Teams, ensuring excellent inter-departmental communication and alignment of goals.
  • Design features and iterate on proprietary Dialog Tool and Database.
  • Dialogue asset implementation using proprietary tools.
  • Test and debug all in-game dialogue for multiple implementation pipelines.
  • Edit and process dialogue assets for all aspects of our game.
  • Apply studio and departmental best practices of dialogue workflows and systems.
  • Inspire teamwork and collaboration inside and outside the Audio Dept.
  • Lead and innovate the tech pipeline for dialogue for all modes
  • Be point-person and mentor for Toronto-based Dialogue Designers

Player Profile

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of game dialogue.
  • Expertise in proprietary/third party Dialogue Tools and Databases.
  • Experience in both linear and interactive dialogue systems.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in game audio development.
  • Shipped at least three major titles.
  • Understanding of PS5, XBOX One/Series X, and PC audio functionality, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Experience with major digital audio workstations.
  • Experience with middleware programs such as Wwise and Fmod.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization skills.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Continuing Education Certificate, Professional or advanced degree in programming, audio engineering, or similar preferred.

Extra Points:

  • FPS/Multi-player experience a plus.
  • Audio scripting experience.
