The Principal QE Architect is a senior technical leader who shapes quality engineering strategy across different divisions. This role focuses on driving innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include leading strategic quality initiatives, providing guidance, and mentoring QE teams. They also innovate quality engineering policies, implement metrics, and drive innovation using emerging technologies. The architect designs test architectures, develops automated test scripts, and leads performance testing. Collaboration with various teams is essential, along with guidance and training responsibilities, and reporting key quality metrics.

Job Details

The Principal QE Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for shaping quality engineering strategy across LR Legal & Compliance, Legal Services, and ELM divisions. This role partners with CTOs and technical leaders to drive innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement across the LR organization.

Leadership

The Principal QE Architect leads strategic quality initiatives in collaboration with CTOs and technical leaders. They provide guidance on project planning, metrics, and process improvements, while also mentoring QE teams to foster high performance and continuous learning. This role involves offering expert advice, solving complex technical challenges, and promoting innovation and efficiency in testing practices.

Quality Engineering Standards 

The Architect innovates quality engineering policies processes, standards, and procedures to ensure consistency and re-use across the organization. They also implement metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to measure and monitor the effectiveness of quality engineering processes. 

Innovation

The Principal QE Architect drives innovation by challenging traditional quality paradigms and integrating emerging technologies like GenAI. They continuously refine QE processes and advise on strategic direction, ensuring the */dxg remains at the forefront of quality practices.

Test Architecture & Tools

They design scalable, reusable test architectures and frameworks that support automation, performance testing, and CI/CD. Standards for test design, data management, and environment configuration are established to align with business and technical goals.

Automation & Performance

The role includes developing automated test scripts for various testing types and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines. They also lead performance testing efforts, identifying bottlenecks and optimizing system responsiveness and scalability.

Collaboration

The architect works closely with development, product, and operations teams to align on quality goals, offering technical support and promoting best practices across teams.

Guidance and Training

They develop and maintain training materials based on the Center of Excellence's (CoE) Methods of Work. They mentor QE professionals, and lead initiatives to embed Agile, Scrum, and SAFe methodologies. They also manage the Methods of Work (MoW) library, enabling Methods of Work (MoWs) writing and maintenance, fostering growth and proficiency in Quality Engineering among WK Groups/Divisions and conduct tailored training sessions.

Reporting

The Principal QE Architect regularly reports on automation progress, test outcomes, and key quality metrics to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 

  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.

  • In-depth knowledge of software quality assurance principles, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps.

  • Knowledge of Test Automation scripts and programming languages. Or equivalent experience or training

Experience

  • Proven experience (5 - 10 years) in quality assurance and software testing, with a focus on test architecture and strategy. 

  • Experience designing and implementing comprehensive QE strategies, tools, frameworks, and solutions across complex software projects or organizations.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading QE initiatives, improving testing processes, and driving quality improvements.

  • Able to Train, Coach, and mentor scrum cadence. Or equivalent experience or training
