Your career is a testament to your diverse experiences, community involvement, and the valuable lessons you've learned along the way. You are more than just your resume; you are a reflection of your achievements, the knowledge you've gained, and the personal interests that shape who you are.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer to take ownership of the administration, security, cost efficiency, and optimization of our Snowflake environment as part of our enterprise data platform.

This is not a traditional data engineering role. This is a technical position focused on building and scaling a governed, secure, and cost-optimized Snowflake environment that serves as the backbone for our analytics and AI initiatives.

What You’ll Do

Governance & Security

  • Manage Snowflake user/role provisioning, RBAC, object-level access, and network policies.

  • Implement SSO (Okta or AzureAD), MFA, and key-pair authentication mechanisms.

  • Enforce data masking, row-level security, and tagging policies for compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, etc).

Cost Optimization

  • Set up and maintain resource monitors, auto-suspend/resume policies, and usage tracking.

  • Partner with finance to build cost attribution and chargeback models across business units.

  • Tune warehouse sizing and query usage to minimize consumption while maintaining performance.

Automation & DevOps

  • Automate Snowflake object deployment and permission management using Terraform, Liquibase, or other IaC tools.

  • Integrate Snowflake into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).

  • Own platform configuration standards across environments (dev, test, prod).

Monitoring & Performance

  • Monitor platform health using Snowflake’s Account Usage schema and integrate with observability platforms like Datadog, Splunk, or CloudWatch.

  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks at the query, warehouse, and workload levels.

  • Lead tuning and optimization efforts to ensure scalable, reliable Snowflake operations.

Collaboration & Platform Evolution

  • Serve as subject matter expert for all things Snowflake—partnering with engineering, InfoSec, DevOps, and data teams.

  • Define and enforce naming conventions, tagging policies, and data sharing protocols.

  • Evaluate and implement new Snowflake features (e.g., Native Apps, Snowpark, Streams/Tasks).

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in data platforms, with 3+ years administering Snowflake in a production environment.

  • Proven expertise in Snowflake account management, warehouse optimization, and cost governance.

  • Strong understanding of RBAC, network security, SSO, and data protection standards.

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.

  • Familiarity with data ingestion pipelines (e.g., Snowpipe, ADF, Fivetran) and how they interact with Snowflake.

  • Ability to proactively monitor and tune the platform, enforce policies, and scale with demand.

  • Knowledge of observability tools and alerting practices.

Preferred Skills

  • SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced (Admin or Architect) Certification

  • Experience integrating Snowflake with tools like Alation, Collibra, Power BI, Tableau, or Databricks

  • Familiarity with Erwin or other data modeling tools

  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance) a plus

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a BI Developer or Analyst

  • Not a Data Engineer focused on building ELT pipelines

  • This is a platform engineer role owning infrastructure, security, performance, and cost management of Snowflake
