World Relief Western Washington is seeking an Early Learning & Family Support Specialist to expand their program for refugees, asylees, and immigrants. This role involves home visitation for families with children aged 2.5-5 years, providing culturally relevant and trauma-informed services. The specialist will deliver individualized lessons, creative activities, and community resources to support children's successful kindergarten start. Responsibilities include assessing family needs, creating personalized learning plans, implementing curriculum, organizing family engagement events, maintaining records, and connecting families with community resources. The position requires collaboration with team members and contributing to program development and reporting.

POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief Western Washington seeks an Early Learning & Family Support Specialist to help expand our early learning and family support program for the local refugee, asylee, and immigrant community. The Early Learning & Family Support is a home visitation program for families with children 2.5-5 years of age that offers culturally relevant and trauma-informed services such as individualized lessons, creative activities, and community resources to help families overcome barriers and ensure they have the support for a successful start at kindergarten. The Early Learning & Family Support Specialist meets with families in-home to identify goals for various developmental skillsets and support families and children with a playful curriculum and resources that engages and equips not only the children, but also the parents in their role in the child's early learning and development. 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with families and children who have experienced trauma and displacement, helping them navigate these changes and challenges with a playful curriculum that engages and empowers children as they learn and grow.   
  • Communicate closely with families and children and carefully assess the needs and create a personalized learning plan for children and the parent’s engagement, to ensure the best early learning experience, social-emotional learning support, and kindergarten preparedness.   
  • Plan and implement daily lessons and activities following a curriculum, in-person (and online when deemed required due to public health concerns), based on early learning best practices in a culturally relevant manner.   
  • Plan and organize regular family engagement events and activities that facilitate sustainable social and community connections and resources for their child’s learning as well as family’s holistic wellbeing and resiliency.   
  • Coordinate daily program planning, logistics, and scheduling in a timely and efficient manner ensuring the program requirements are met and families receive quality support.   
  • Continue to develop, refine, and preserve early childhood curriculum that is evidence-based and trauma-informed, for future use.   
  • Design and implement pre-/post-assessments and keep detailed records of results for each student. Collaborate with the Program Manager and other staff with the design and criteria for standardizing assessments.   
  • Collaborate with other team members and WRWW staff, following up on referrals and requests for resources for the potential/enrolled participant families.   
  • Continue to build the resources list and build connections with local organizations & partners to continue expanding services for refugee and immigrant families and children.   
  • Provide information and assist families with connecting to needed resources and support, including but not limited to child development screenings, ECEAP & pre-school, school registrations, summer programs, and other opportunities of learning and community support.   
  • Use internal tools and databases to track and update participant information and program details. 
  • Attend relevant trainings on Early childhood development, SEL, mental health and trauma-informed care.   
  • Work closely with the Program Manager and contribute to program budgeting, reporting and evaluation.   
  • Assist the Children & Family Programs team with work planning, services, and support with other planned program activities as needed.   
  • Inform the overall programming with insights and expertise in order to strengthen the programming to best serve our families and children in the community.   
  • Other related duties as assigned.  

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work in office setting, participant homes and/or partner sites, with minimal day-to-day supervision, and to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.   
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check.   
  • Current (or ability to quickly secure) CPR/First Aid Certification required. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • AA (or higher) in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 4 years of experience in the early learning field and direct service/teaching OR BA in an Early Learning/Child development related studies with at least 2 years of experience in the early learning field (preferably direct teaching or home-based services). 
  • Experience working with immigrant or other under-represented communities.   
  • Demonstrated understanding of implementing culturally responsive lessons and curriculum, and engaging caregivers in their child’s learning and development.   
  • Strong knowledge of kindergarten readiness skills and child development.   
  • Experience following and implementing a curriculum/lesson-plan and individualizing it depending on the child's developmental level and need for support is highly preferred.   
  • Good knowledge of WA Kids, and other early learning guidelines and best practices is preferred.   
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); as well as learning and use internal tracking applications.   
  • Experience understanding and helping families connect with community resources and supporting them with navigating language, cultural and systemic barriers in a respectful and productive manner.   
  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, collaboratively, and positively with students, volunteers, and other staff.   
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, additional language skills preferred.   
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
