Job Description

The General Labor position involves safely handling lumber products, ensuring material meets customer and company standards. Responsibilities include moving and securing products, stacking finished goods, labeling materials with type, size, and count information, using tools such as staple guns and saws, banding and securing materials, maintaining inventory, recording production, and maintaining a clean work area. The role also involves assisting other areas and participating in safety programs. The ideal candidate will be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED, though it is not required, and some manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred.
Must have:
  • Moves and secures products and other materials
  • Stacks finished products according to requirements
  • Labels material based on specifications
  • Uses tools like staple guns and saws
  • Maintains accurate inventory of tags
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
Good to have:
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Manufacturing or lumber experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred

Job Summary

General labor is responsible for safely handling lumber products. Verifies material meets customer requirements and company expectations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Moves and secures products and other materials according to instructions
  • Stacks finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements
  • Labels material based on the following specifications: type, size, and count
  • Applies individual tags to material before/after treating/production
  • Uses a staple gun, drill, saws and troubleshoots equipment
  • Bands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks
  • Follows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements
  • Ensures correct quantities and material are strapped, and labeled before leaving the work area
  • Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisor
  • Records production on production sheets
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Assists with other work areas by moving material, loading and unloading material carts
  • Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required
  • No minimum experience is required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
