Key Purpose of the Job:
The Head of Resources is the key conduit for information flow between Production, Talent Acquisition and the crew. They, with their Department Managers, ensure there is appropriate skilled talent available to complete the work at the highest quality. Additionally, they advise and direct the DM team in providing support for the crews as well as report to the executive group on resource status. They partner with the Feature Animation Operations Manager to foster the employee’s experience, from recruitment and onboarding, through production crewing, career progression, and departure. Along with the Operations Manager and the Core Leadership Team, they ensure all productions have the teams they need to create the highest quality of work on time, on budget, and in a sustainable way.
Needs to Do:
• Requires understanding of the CG production process from artistic, managerial, and operational perspectives. They must achieve and balance both the creative and operational goals of each project, as well as the goals and road map of the Feature Animation division.
• Accountable for the line management and performance management of the Department Resource Managers, collaborating with HR, Training and Learning & Development to guide career progression to fulfil each person’s potential.
• Liaise with shows, mediate and mitigate any conflict over competing and conflicting demands over resources.
• Overseer and forecaster of the headcount for the division, ensuring there is a healthy mixture of talent levels and skillsets for show delivery.
• Execute strategies for compensation, succession planning and talent retention.
• Review the effectiveness of the talent recruitment and attraction, liaising with talent acquisition, outreach and training.
• Encouraged to make recommendations for improvements to workflow, particularly with respect to scheduling, flow of information, and cross department communication.
• Overseer of supervision crewing, working with RMs to identify leadership talent and ensure the key supervision roles are planned for and filled for confirmed and potential productions.
Needs to Know:
• Proven ability in managing departments from start through completion of a production. Able to prioritise appropriately and always meet deadlines.
• Excellent teamwork – ability to assemble and motivate teams and work effectively with others.
• Strong written & verbal communication – ability to interact with and get consensus from the Producers, Supervisors, and Studio Leadership.
• Organisation – demonstrated organisational skills, including a strong attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

• Proven experience as a manager within the film industry ideally gained in a multi site global studio
• Proven team leader with strong motivational qualities.

• Confident in managing conflict and difficult situations. Involved in trying to resolve performance related issues across shows.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000 to $140,000. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferrable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.
