Job Description

As Senior Director, Solution Engineering for Sitecore America, you will lead a dynamic team of Solutions Engineers and Architects. Your core mission involves crafting and delivering cutting-edge solutions that demonstrate Sitecore's value to clients. This role oversees field segment SE teams, providing strategic direction and driving organizational improvement. You will collaborate with sales and marketing on go-to-market strategies, participate in deals, and act as the voice of sales. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring teams, developing pre-sales strategies, overseeing solution development, engaging key customers, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to align with business goals.
Must have:

  • Engage clients to tailor pre-sales activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, Customer Success.
  • Integrate product developments into pre-sales activities.

About the Role:

As a pivotal leader in this national, Senior Director, Solution Engineering role, you will spearhead Sitecore America Solution Engineering initiatives, guiding a tenured, dynamic team of Solutions Engineers and Solutions Architects. Your mission will be to craft and deliver cutting-edge solutions that effectively illustrate the value of Sitecore’s solutions to potential clients and existing customers. This position reports directly to the Global VP Solutions Engineering.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our America field segment SE teams, managing leaders who oversee the West, East, Net New segments and our Product Specialist team, providing strategic direction to these teams. Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with regional sales and marketing leaders to building a thoughtful GTM strategy for our cross-segment SE teams.
  • Drive Strategic Initiatives that drive organizational improvement and alignment
  • Participate in Top of the Funnel initiatives such as marketing webinars, speaking engagements etc.
  • Drive excellence in the middle of the funnel execution from Discovery through Validation.
  • Participate in deals (big and small; because some big business starts small) and provide executive leadership.
  • Be the voice of sales and drive thoughtful discussion and analysis on wins and losses.
  • Work with the product organizations on identifying key gaps and make data driven recommendations.
  • Design organizational OKRs to align with Sales strategy and Revenue goals.
  • Lead the organization through quarterly performance check ins and annual performance reviews.
  • Be a Diversity and Inclusion champion and create opportunities for under-represented minority groups.
  • Build a culture grounded in humility, empathy, and execution excellence.
  • This role will also partner with the President of Sales for the America and provide strategic insights into pipeline health, team performance and win rates. The successful candidate will lean in when needed and participate in/lead initiatives outside of the Solution Engineering charter.

What You’ll Do:

  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead and inspire a high-achieving team of Solutions Engineers and Solutions Architects, driving excellence and fostering a collaborative environment. You will have three front line managers representing ~20 individual contributors reporting to you as well as several Solution Architects.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with the executive team to develop and implement pre-sales strategies that align with Sitecore’s broader business goals.
  • Solution Development: Oversee the creation of standardized demos, proof of concepts (POCs), and Centers of Excellence that showcase Sitecore’s innovative solutions.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage directly with key clients to understand their needs, tailoring pre-sales activities to address their specific challenges and objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to ensure cohesive go-to-market strategies and alignment.
  • Product Insight: Stay informed about product developments and updates, integrating this knowledge into pre-sales activities to highlight Sitecore’s evolving offerings.

Additional Skills That Could Set You Apart:

  • Educational Background: Bachelors Degree (preferred but not required), or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a leadership role within pre-sales, with a focus on managing Solutions Engineers and Solutions Architects.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the MarTech sector and a strong ability to keep up with industry trends.
  • Technical Skills: Aptitude for understanding web technologies. Broad understanding of enterprise information technologies. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and have an ongoing desire to stay current with the latest technologies, specifically AI tools and capabilities.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to speak the language of C-level executives and relate technical / operational challenges to top level business issues. Ability to teach those skills to the broader team as part of their career development.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Analyst and Partner Relationship Management: Demonstrated success in supporting and maintaining analyst and partner relationship management.
  • Experience selling DAM, CMP, CMS, Search, Personalization and CDP solutions, in a SaaS environment, preferred but not required.
