Summary

Mattel's Shared Services Payroll department seeks a Senior Payroll Representative to manage all aspects of U.S. payroll processing for their East Aurora, NY office. Responsibilities include handling multiple payrolls, responding to employee inquiries, managing payroll reporting, auditing tax data and direct deposit information, processing garnishments, working with IT on system updates, assisting with general ledger reconciliation, and conducting periodic audits. The role also involves providing functional support and configuration expertise for the payroll system, troubleshooting issues, advising on best practices, and supporting business operations. Additional duties include printing and sorting paychecks, digital filing, mail processing, and responding to mailbox inquiries. Some overtime may be required.
Must have:

This position will provide specialized support to Payroll but will also drive operational projects to improve business process efficiency and functionality.

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

The Mattel Shared Services Payroll department is currently looking for a Senior Payroll Representative to support our East Aurora, NY office. 

What Your Impact Will Be: 

 

  • Responsible for all aspects of U.S. payroll processing.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of multiple weekly and bi-weekly payrolls and off-cycles.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and assist in the management reporting regarding payroll.
  • Enter and audit state, local tax data and direct deposit information  in Payroll system as needed.
  • Maintain key data tables in Payroll system required for use in data entry/validation and reporting
  • Assist in preparation, coordination and submission of garnishments/court orders.
  • Work with IT department to test and implement periodic system tax updates/special programming.
  • Assist with the General Ledger reconciliation and submission to Finance.
  • Process Ceridian deposit when necessary.
  • Periodic audit of employee tax set-up to ensure compliance.
  • Provide functional support and configuration expertise to the team, including: basic setup, tax setup, garnishment setup, with ability to troubleshoot issues related to payroll processing, G/L interfaces and tax reporting.
  • Support business operations and satisfy user inquiries, resolve issues and support applications.
  • Advise the project team on best practices related to configuration and setup of the payroll system.
  • Print and sort paychecks as needed.
  • Some overtime may be necessary.
  • Digital filing.
  • Sort and process interoffice mail.
  • Monitor and respond to Payroll mailbox inquiries.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Ability to work with highly confidential information with absolute discretion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels.  Must be able to interface on a daily basis with Business Unit customer and the Business Unit Supervisor.
  • Continuous improvement approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Employs a strong customer service mindset.
  • Ability to efficiently handle a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy and attention to necessary detail.
  • Strong knowledge of PC’s and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and PeopleSoft.
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Business, Accounting, Information Systems or related field.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in Tax/Payroll/Benefits preferred.
  • Exemplary attendance and job performance.

The base hourly rate for this position is between $22.20 and $27.70.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base hourly rate will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
